Goodbye 2011, you've been ... different to say the least.
Here's hoping everyone has had a pleasant Saturnalia and that your NYE was spectucular.
I spent my NYE with some much-missed friends from University. We hired a rural house and spent the last few days catching up on things, eating some really good food (big thanks to them for the cooking :wink, drinking lots or good wine and beer, laughing till our whole bodies hurt and then some more, and just generally enjoying each others company.
It has been a rollercoaster of a year, one of my more eventful ones and I was tempted to try and catalogue my main highs and lows here. However, following this weekend I think it's prudent to try and keep this good buzz and not dwell on the past, so I shall express some of my New Year's Resolutions :biggrin1:
1. Take more time off work
- my holiday entitlement runs Jan-Dec and at the close of play on 31st Dec I still had 39h of holiday hours left (which equates to 1 week + 2h), of which I can carry over only 37h to the next year. So instead of running myself ragged again this year, I'm attempting to work smarter, not harder.
2. Run a 10k and do a Parachute Jump in aid of Cancer Research UK
- last month, my old Manager died from cancer so the company is organising fund raising events. While we had our professional differences, he helped teach me how to do my current job and outisde of work we sparred and trained together in martial arts. Partly because of working so much, and partly through what I can only describe as cowardess, I never got the chance to see him before he died ... I guess I didn't want to see a man I looked up to in so much pain ...
3. Establish myself as a Personal Trainer, gain experience and start to make some money from it
- this is a big one. Not only do I need to start supplementing my income a the moment, but I also have aspirations to one day be able to do this full-time for a living, maybe even start my own business.
So yeah, that's the plan for the year. Here's to a great 2012 for everyone ... but mainly me!
