So I tried fresh figs for the first time today. They're alright but not sweet enough for me. I decided to prep them with some dehydrated pitted dates I have.
First, cut the top off the fig and expose the fleshy pink center. You should notice a small hole. Penetrate that tight, pink pucker with your big, hard, brown dates. Be slow and gentle or you risk tearing the fig. For easier insertion, soak the dates in water for a few hours. Still, take caution or you can end up with a sticky mess. If using a soaked date, stuff a soaked almond or two into, after penetrating the fig, it for a nice treat.
My pervy mind can't even prepare food without thinking in the gutter.
