It has been awhile since my last post. Things have been rather busy, starting with work.
A marketing agency hired me to handle the publicity for a client of theirs. The chef restaurant owner finally decided on a grand opening date. I was given all of 4 business days in which to orchestrate media coverage for this event (ridiculously little amount of time). With this short notice i was able to wrangle a radios tation to broadcast live, snag two magazines and a major paper for the event so the client and my agency were pleased.
My date for this event was the 27 year old sister of my best friend. Date had just returned from West Africa missionary teaching work to get a masters in linguistics so that she can return W. Africa. She is naturally blone, green eyes, 5'10" tall and has a supermodel body. her shoulder length blonde hair was loosely pinned up, she rocked a strapless, knee length dress with pearls a-la Charlotte from Sex & the City. I hadn't seen her in a couple of years and she was so hot i wanted her immediately. She is brilliant at socializing with complete strangers as though they have been her best friend for life. I would seriously consider dating her except for the fact that....she is one of 'virgin until married' types that insists on being courted. ugh. my idea of courting is 'let's have sex and if its really good and i still like you, then we can date.'. this is not an ideal situation for a woman that thinks otherwise. anyway, at least for the event, she was absolutely stunning and turned every head, so that was an ego boost to have that kind of arm candy.
Other than that, last weekend I attended the photographic documentary art opening of another client. a well known local photographer had gone under cover into the homeless camps of ft. worth and documented the whole scene and this event was to raise money for the shelters that provide food, shelter and medical care for those most desperately in need. I love those events - great wine, spectacular food, excellent live music. I went solo hoping to garner a date out of the thing. no such luck. the most interesting people to talk with at the whole thing were this old lesbian couple. they were hilarious, very funny, lovely to talk with.
After that I migrated to some new, tragically hip bar. Ever the outgoing, social, pleasant fellow that i am, i happily chatted up whoever came along. I was shocked and frankly pissed off at what colossal ass holes the women of ft. worth are. it was unbelievable. finally i said to one snarky bitch "well, i can certainly see why it is that you are single". of course she huffed off. good riddance. in the crush of people, the ones to immediately assume the bitchy chicks vacated bar stool were a couple in their 70s that were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. they were excellent to talk with and very enjoyable.
presently i am working for another client on business development and PR/community relations. this is an ongoing thing and he is a good client so that's a relief.
other than that, not much to report. after working so much it is wonderful to be able to come home and relax. this saturday morning is the used book sale to benefit the pink walk for cancer. so i will attend that and socialize a little bit with the organizers.
other than the disappointing dating pool, life in Texas isn't so bad.
