My career path thus far . . .

I am very much a work in progress. I am 41 and still have no idea what I really want to be when I grow up.:redface:

Since May of 2006 I have been on disability due to Meniere's Disease. I had hoped to return to my previous position as an Education Program Development Specialist 1 for the NJ State Department of Education in May 2007. Alas my condition has progressed so that was not to be. :frown1: In English that means I design and implement professional development workshops for educators. I also do basic web design.

I am also certified to teach grades K-8 in NJ.

In past lives I have also been a:
Curator of Education
National Outreach Educator

Bartender @ the Count Basie Theater
Local Arts Coordinator
Lifeguard @ the Asbury Park YMCA
Receptionist @ a steel mill
Retail Manager
there are more but I can't remember them right now.

The doctor that performed your negroectomy must have been good to remove your rythm. :biggrin1:

That's okay he left the CP Time gene as well as the ability to clean raw collards at lightning speed; I love chitlin's.

NJQT, sorry to hear about your Meniere's. (I hope you were correctly diagnosed... there was a NY Times article back on 18 April about misdiagnosis of Meniere's.) Your profile says you're in GA... maybe find a good teaching hospital in Atlanta (Emory? st Joseph's?) and let their best have another crack at your diagnosis if you haven't already gone to the top. Often the best costs no more than the "pretty good". I think of a friend of mine for whom the difference between a good doctor and a great doctor was the difference between a hysterectomy and a baby... the "good" doctor was pleasant but really didn't try hard enough on the diagnosis. What looked potentially nasty to the first guy turned out to be benign, but rare. The good doctor missed it, the great doctor (who was kind of a prick) found it and fixed it. I've also seen the same thing in a few different cases of people close to me having cancer-- the right doctor meant treatment that worked, a "nice" doctor meant missing things, and dying early. I respected one well-respected doctor a lot for saying "Oh, if you can work with that other clinic, you probably shouldn't be spending time with us..."

Too bad you're not still in NJ-- between New York and Philly you would have your pick of doctors and hospitals.

Sorry to get all serious on you, but I feel pretty strongly about people not getting great medical care. As a country we really need to sort this shit out. Maybe Barack will get it done.
