Staying Fit

I have been having the best time of my life after I made a determination to regain my fitness.

I joined the "Year end Men's competition" group in September as I decided it was about time for me to become serious about loosing weight, and develop a more fit physique.

Prior to this September I was going to the gym, local 24 hr fitness, at least 2-3 xs a week. But my workouts were at best average and not centered. I had joined a gym in 2003 or 04 to loose weight but mainly to become more physically fit. I had lost 25lbs and in 3 months time and maintained it for awhile. But as things go, I gained about 20lbs back in the time after that.

As my activity in LPSG became for frequent and broadened I noticed a lot of fit and muscle clad guys, some older and many of course much younger than myself.

After my cousins wedding, which I must say was a smorgesboard of delicious samplings of every conceivable morsel of ways to disguise fat, and sugar and the various dinners and breakfasts prior to friends and relatives leaving to go back home, I had gained quite a bit of poundage. I love food.

That was it. Pictures of me that i wanted to post was not at all flattering in my eyes and I started deleting them. If not for the rule that measuring your erect penis was by pressing to the "bone" the measuring device being used(BPEL-Bone pressed erection length), I would be less than average according to some standards.

As destiny would have it thats when I found the group mentioned above. And through the some PM and chats, I was motivated to intensify my workouts, change my lifestyle in food choices and became more conscience of what I consummed.

Good thing my wife was also becomeing more health conscience. Her thing is "chia" seeds and yoga, more fruits and vegtebles, and her new found awarness that Greek yogurt had more protein than any others, but more so cutting back on carbs.

So together in the month of September and October she has lost 15lbs and I 20lbs. What an accomplishment I must say.

But..... Not without hard work. Starting at the end of September I decided to take up swimming as part of my cardio exercise, treadmills and elliptical was not exciting for me. Diet and weight training is one thing but you got to have cardio to excellerate the whole process. So with that I went to the gym everyday if not to work out but to swim 30-40 minutes each day. I really love it. Where when I started I could barely swim to the end of the pool without needing to rest, I can pretty much do an entire 10-15 min without rest.

My workouts have also intensified, and more focused now, again with the help and suggestions of some of my favorite member "friends" who themselves are example of fitness.

Just posted some pics of my accomplishments. But I am not finished, my darn love handles and belly fat still lurks so that would be the next major undertaking.

Of course I am writing this because a year from now when I read this I want to say that I have maintained or improved my overall health, fitness and physique since my 56th birthday that is coming up. Oh no that means it will be my 57th birthday coming up than.

Anyway here's to me when in a year from today 11/8/12 that I will be a six packing hunking old(er) man 150lbs, with body fat of at least 20% or less.
Yeah!!!:biggrin1:

Frnkd213,

Like I said in my comments to your pics earlier today, you are an inspiration to lots of us to stay fit through your workouts, your weight training, and swimming. That is admirable, because most Americans from children to oldsters are flabby, out-of-shape, and obese. Obesity is now one of America's greatest problems.

I am glad that in mid September I embarked on an ambitious walking program of five plus miles just about every day. That in itself has improved immensely my physical, emotional, and mental health.

I am sure that your ambitious program of physical fitness has the same affect on your general health and outlook in life. Swimming is one of the best sports for somebody like you. Athletics releases endorphins into a guy's bloodstream, makes him feel better, even heals him. And as you those are the same hormones one receives when engage in sex and lovemaking.

Like what you said in your blog. Yeah!!!

Congrats on your new investment in your health and fitness! BigBlansDC said a lot of what I was thinking (congrats to you too!).

I hope you enjoy the benefits from the investment, like better sex and outlook, for a long time! :-D
