I hear cocaine and meth are good for that, in that they work for most who try them. Other than that, no, I know of no diet pill that will work for every person in whatever state of dysfunction their body is in.
The question is what is the root of your weight gain and lack of energy. If you can answer that you can find a path forward, but the body is very complicated so those answers may be elusive.
Let me first preface this post with the usual. I am not a medical professional, nor do I have a background in any form of medical diagnostics or pathology.
Having said that...
I am not familiar with 5-HTP use, but I did a bit of research and it looks like it works well enough and is obtainable Over-The-Counter (OTC) which might be easier for you. If you think you might be clinically overweight, which is usually determined by your BMI, unless your height-to-weight ratio is significantly affected by muscle mass, then other measurements are taken into consideration, you might be a good candidate for Adipex-P, which is a prescription (Rx) form of Phentermine, a chemical that is primarily used to suppress appetite in a related fashion to 5-HTP as mentioned above. Some of the draw backs of Adipex-P (Phentermine) include testing positive for methamphetamine (meth) should you undergo drug testing. There is additional testing that can determine the difference between Phentermine and actual meth abuse. Some people also experience anxiety and a sense of heightened agitation when taking this medication, as it's mechanism of action is a Central Nervous System stimulant. Those are just a couple of the "glaring" side-effect so to speak. There are of course other concerns and pharmacological reactions that can occur if used in conjunction with other Rx's, but that is best covered by your licensed, medical care provider. If you do a quick Google search of Phentermine or look up Adipex, you can browse an overview of the cautions and concerns of taking Adipex before approaching your physician. The other draw back to Adipex-P is that you would need to see a licensed, medical practitioner who has experience in nutrition and weight loss and would be willing to prescribe the aforementioned medication.
Completely anecdotal now, I am currently taking a regiment of Adipex-P, 37.5 mg tablets and have yet to experience the two side-effects I mentioned above and experienced 10 pounds of weight lost within the first week. Individual results may vary. I am currently in my third week of the regiment so it is still too early for me to tell you the whole experience. You should note, however, that there is a relatively extreme diet and exercise program that I am also on under the guidance and care of my physician and nutritionist, who both keep in communication over my program. Hopefully my post can give you some insight into just one option of the huge amounts of diet pills out there. Cheers!
