1. Hughes has a small dick. That's why they sexually assaulted him twice this season and treated both times like a joke. Our deranged society thinks sexual violence is funny if it is done against Smalls.
2. The controversial Frenchie gay lover storyline could only have worked with a male character. Kimiko is Frenchie's obvious love interest. If you want to create any drama there, you have to put an obstacle between them that makes sense. Karen Fukuhara is hot. Too hot. Easily the hottest woman on the show. No other woman could be a believable distraction for Frenchie, so they had to use a man.
