I am 25yo male, have always been top but my boyfriend wanted to starting topping me as well. We tried once, getting it one was very painful but eventually subsided. However once he put like 4 inches its like he hit a wall and just hurt me a lot. Any idea what might this be, its happened for the three times we tried now?

Pain during anal sex can happen for different reasons. It could be due to lack of relaxation, not enough lubrication, or even that your body just needs more time to adjust to being a bottom. Have you tried taking things slower, or using more lube? Maybe even starting with smaller toys or fingers first could help. If it keeps happening, though, it might be a good idea to talk to a healthcare professional. Stay safe and communicate with your partner.

Thanks for you reponse Oliver, any idea what kind of healthcare professional I should see? Urologist?

You're welcome, If you're experiencing specific issues related to urinary or reproductive health, a urologist would be a great choice. They specialize in those areas. If you're not sure, it might be helpful to start with your primary care doctor, and they can guide you from there. Hope you find the right professional for your needs.

Maybe try different positions if you haven't (on your back, kneeling face down or even on your side). Also if you bend your knees up toward your chest it will help straighten out your tunnel and it may be easier for him to go in deeper. That kind of sounds like what's happening since getting in 4 inches you are well past the external and internal sphincters. The internal is usually the one that can cause trouble since it is not under your involuntary control.

At Dr. maybe can help but admittedly this isn't something I would talk to my Doc about haha. Not saying you shouldn't - just me I suppose.

There are some books you can find in PDF format online as well which may help: "The Joy of Gay Sex", "The Ins and Outs of Gay Sex", "How to Top Like a Stud" (which has info that may be helpful even though the title sounds like its the wrong target), and "How to Bottom Like a Porn Star".

It sounds like you've got a good mix of practical tips and resources there thanks for sharing. Those positions can really make a difference in comfort and depth, especially with some experimentation. And I get it; talking to a doctor about these topics isn't always easy. But sometimes even a quick consult can offer reassurance. Those book recommendations are great too having resources that address specific concerns can be super helpful.
