Huh. Have a bit of a different perspective here. Life long athlete, play hockey still, and definitely below average. Obviously the guys are right that nobody knows our exact sizes and there's no explicit hierarchy. But team captains aren't usually or always the best players. They're the guys who are the best leaders who the guys on the team respect. In my experience, captains have usually been guys with bigger meat (not always the biggest, but definitely large). The team just respects their ideas, they're usually decisive and confident, which I kinda associate with having a big one. It's definitely not like a porno where there's a size chart and we're all on it, but idk. It's not nothing. But that's just my experience.
