For me, I often took local train in the summer visiting my older brother, who lived in a big city, 1 hr train ride away.
When I got to the train station, there was a busy newspaper stand that also had various porn mags. Like other customers there, I would often took one that featured both men/women on the cover and flipped through the pages just to get some "previews" then put it back. I was still leaving with foster care family, so there was no way to hide the magazines. In facts, my brother got a bunch of porn mags at his place, so I know I'd able to check them when he was at work.
Until I moved out on my own and living off campus while in college, my first porn mag I bought was from a book store that catered reading materials for gay and lesbian, just clean type bookstore, like no video arcades or hardcore sex toys. I wouldn't feel comfortable to buy porn mag elsewhere.

This brings back memories. The first few times were awkward, but after those few times it became somewhat exhilarating.
Yeah. I know based on a couple of other comments on here that I'm not the only one who went to a news agents/convenience store a couple of towns over initially, what a buzz it was being 18 and getting served without being asked for id. Always got a special feeling just buying the mags lol.

I don't know why but if the corner shops was Indian or Pakistani i never felt embarrassed about buy a porn mag.. Unlike if it was English. Thanks God for the invention of the internet.. Todays lot wouldn't understand the courage it took to by a porn mag...
You know, I completely get what you mean. From memory all of the Indian or Pakistani corner shops/news agents I bought a porn mag in didn't care, where as with a white/english convenience store I felt I was being judged lol, unless of course I was in an adult/private shop.

Bought a few in my younger days, always from a service station and way before the Internet existed. I do recall having a favourite but can't think what it was called, that mag got some use but on one occasion when I bust I didn't grab my towel quickly enough and the large majority of my nut hit the mag and the carpet. I felt somewhat nostalgic this morning. I was born in February 1979, I turned 18 in 1997. I know there are a lot less people buying porn mags now days, but I got a catalogue yesterday through the post/mail and they were selling some mages but they were £8 to £10 each. I remember buying mags 15 years ago and they were £4, the sex/adult shop closest to where I lived had offers of 3 mags for £10.
