Think it also depends on the gym.

When I went to a gym that was primarily about swimming, nudity was the norm because everyone's underwear has to come off. So even younger demographics that are normally more shy see they don't have the hide or cover their penis when nobody else is doing that. And for serious swimmers, it's just speedos for practice, so you get used to everyone seeing you in almost nothing anyway.

In gyms where it's more about cardio and weights, many guys don't even shower or change, or if they do there's more covering with towels.
