Treatment of Herpes Simplex
Unlike other sexually transmitted diseases, herpes cannot be cured because medication that will attack the virus while it lies dormant in the nerve cells will also damage the nerve cells. However, there is treatment available for acute outbreaks that involves the use of anti-viral drugs such as Acyclovir, Valaclovir or Famcyclovir (more here):

The Jenex Corporation - The first device developed from this
technology is the Therapik® product.
The second device, InterceptCS is the first product proven and approved to
prevent cold sores. Jenex has been approved to market InterceptCS in Canada
with its approved claim, "For prevention and relief of the symptoms of herpes
labialis (cold sores), such as blistering, lesions, inflammation, and discomfort.
Also helps alleviate the embarrassment that is typically associated with
herpes labialis (cold sore) outbreaks". (more here):

Don't worry too much. Herpes is really not a big deal. In fact, I believe that most people have some form of herpes and don't even know it. Their bodies are able to suppress outbreaks.

"Cold sores" are a result of having herpes as well. It's just a term that society has deemed "nicer" than saying, "I've got a herpes sore on my lip."

And if someone infected with herpes isn't having an outbreak, the chances of contracting herpes from that person are very low.

Here's a great site with easy-to-understand information about herpes:

this just happend this morning anf i'm ashamed to talk to anyone about it. Although i did'nt penetrate her, it was i actually took off my jeans and started rubbing my crotch on hers and after i had been fingering her for atleast a day she actually told me. I immediate ran to the bathroom and washed my hands and penis off.

I feel so horrible, i'm a virgin and managed to put myself in this situation after refraining from sex just because of these very same reasons. She said she was not having an outbreak but i dont know if i trust she's telling the truth.

I'm so ashamed and i just want to crawl into a hole. I've already started to see a red bump on the underside of my penis head which may or may not be herpes related. On the right side of my penis feels weird as does the urethra. I dunno if i feel it because i'm worried or a scractched myself or if it was because i soaked my penis is alchohol :(

This all sounds really tough and scary to deal with. My father died of a heart attack when I was pretty young...15, and I'm now 20 and have had some issues. Knowing how heart disease is passed down in the family I started to freak out and wonder if something was wrong with my heart. I had breathing problems, energy problems, etc.

I went to several doctors including a cardiologist and they all said I was in perfect health and my heart was healthy. I immediately felt better overall and haven't felt the problems at all since. So what am I getting at? I know you don't want to see a doctor about this, but you really should. Only 2 things can happen. You go and you don't have it, and you're relieved and your mind is put to rest...or you do, and you deal with it, get medication and treatment and go on living. Dealing with this yourself is not going to be healthy for you. Good luck to you.

Dude, "low risk" isn't "no risk" but the things you did are definitely in the "low risk" category. And if it only happened this morning then whatever you're noticing now isn't herpes, it hasn't been long enough.

Read some of the websites, I forget what the incubation period is, but I know it's more than 24 hours. A this point a trip to the doctor is just pissing your money away.

Yah, dude, cool out. Take a deep breath, inhale through yer nose, exhale through yer mouth. Yer not gonna see anything yet, assuming you even have it. You feel guilty, which is why yer freaking out even more. Go to an STD clinic after the incubation period for herpes has passed. I wish ya luck, but please, don't freak out about it.

At first I thought "What a maroon!" but then I realized that with sex education as it is under Bush, he's likely really ignorant about this kind of thing.

Orbitz is right, and wise for 20 yrs. Go get the Dr. to test you, then you will know either way. Plus you will not pass the joy along unknowingly.

There is a cure for herpies. It's an herbal cure, but the FDA says only drugs can be a cure, so therefore, techinically, its not a cure.

I can't seem to find the links to the stories i read...or the herb used to cure herpies, but all i know is some man from India rubbed the herb on his genitles and ate the herb, and bathed with it for like, 6 months, and he had no signs of herpies.

What's bad about it is, most of the alternative medicine people I've seen just get these "herbs" out of their backyards.

In the jungles of Cambodia, there is a special plant called Gron-ko Fles-mitan, Collected this and boil in water for several hours. Add glycerine and some of your blood. concentrate the concoction until thick. Then throw it out the window because your screwed man. Sorry! x(

id like to ask whats wrong with that?

As a general rule, alternative medicine is never what it claims to be. I mean, take echinacea. It boosts your immune system. So some altmed people use it to treat lupus and leukemia. Strangely enough, a stronger immune system is the last thing you want when you have either of those diseases.

And then there are the ones who like to claim an "exotic" origin for their practice, as if that somehow makes it more accurate. Reflexology, homeopathy, and ear candling can't be traced to Indians at all, yet I often find Indian motifs in ads for such practices.

but in places like where i came from, herbal medicines are being used in place of commercial/ synthetic medicines as they are cheap. They are also like, as effective than their synthetic counterparts.

just foe example, like guava leaves. they can be used as alternative to antibiotics. also the rosy periwinkle flower is also a known cure to leukemia.

i know studies should be conducted on these herbal plants to prove its effectivity and possible side effects. i believe that majority of commercial derugs came from herbal sources.

iggy

gamma_phi: Sounds like you're freaking out. I'm no doctor, and i don't play one on the internet, but that little bump could have been there for a while and you're just noticing it, b/c you're HIGHLY afraid and worried that you've contracted something. Our minds can play tricks on us, into believing that something is wrong when there isn't. Get a test from true medical professionals and take it from there. Good luck.
