Not sure if this is the right category for a question like this but I signed into DoubleList today and was confronted with a demand that I "upgrade" and seemingly no ability to navigate off that page. I figured out a way around it but I wonder if it is eventually going to be completely pay-to-play.

Its been doing it on and off for the last couple years. if you look at their Reddit page you'll find people posting about it there too. usually you can just keep refreshing the page until it goes away or just check a few hours later. If they did go subscrption only they'd basically lose their user base since its a lot of hold-overs from the craigslist days and ain't nobody gonna pay for that!

Even being in LA, you can pretty much spot the repeat posters so there isnt as big of a user base posting anyways. No value in paying.

If anybody has a work-around, please tell us how, much appreciated!!! True, not worth paying for and LA is mostly fake ads and the same handful of posters, but still, better than nothing.

I just got this message today, but have been using the site fairly regularly. I definitely logged on without an issue in the past week.

I think I saw this message once before and it just went away after awhile. I think they are just hoping to trick enough people to make some money, but it will open itself up again after 24 hours or so.

Doublelist is pretty bad compared to craigslist, it really is the same users all the time. The entire guys for guys/gay for straight sections in L.A. have been co-opted by a single user repeatedly posting the same verbatim ad with different headlines and not deleting previous ones. I assume they're a total petri dish for God knows what.

I post periodically in m4m and m4couples but it's always the same users replying, and while the couples almost always seem legit, a lot of the guys are waving their red flags.

Yes, it's back to "normal" after this failed attempt to get paid subscriptions, if you call all the fraudulent and nutjob posts to be "normal" lol.......
