What are your favorite mainstream gay literature?

Mine are the following [and Kudos to Grove Publishing for its courage to publish]-

City of Night [John Rechy - 1969]
The City and the Pillars [Gore Vidal - 1948]

Other-

Satyricon [Petronius - in Latin c. AD 60]
The Golden Ass [Apuleius - in Latin c. AD 150]
Priapia [erotic poems in Latin, c 1st century]

Ernesto [Umberto Saba - in Italian]
Death in Venice [Thomas Mann - in German]

Midnight Cowboy [John Herlihy]

Is there an online copy of the early 20th century short story / novella, The Eccentricities of Cardinal Perrelli?

Thanks for any responses.

I have a small collection of gay literature. All be it set slightly more up to date than some of your selection.

I have nearly all of Michael Thomas Fords novels, I enjoy his style of writing, and have read several of his books more than a few times. I thoroughly enjoy reading, and when sat in the galley of the aircraft, mid-Atlantic in the middle of the night, when everyone is asleep, I enjoy a nice cup of tea and the chance to read a few chapters before prepping for breakfast etc.
