Here is mine
Someday, when we are wiser, when the worlds older, when we have learned. I pray someday we may yet live, to live and let live. Someday. Life will be fairer, need will be rarer. Greed will not pay.

God speed this bright millennium, on its way let it come someday.

Someday mankind will be kinder, justice blinder

Someday our fight will be won then. We stand in the sun then, that bright afternoon. Till then on days when the sun is gone, I’ll hang on, wish upon the moon. Change will come. One day. Someday. Soon

(The Hunchback of Notre Dame 1996 cut song Someday)

My all time favourite song because it’s got everything in it I believe in. My faith that guides me through life and the harshness of the world.

A dream and hope for a utopian world. In which we can all just live in harmony, no matter our looks, race, religion or gender etc.

……

The world is cruel, the world is ugly.

But there are times and there are people when the world is not.

And at its cruelest it’s still the only world we’ve got. Light and dark, foul and fair…out there….

Olim

Olim Deus accelere

Hoc saeculum spledidum

Accelere fiat venire olim.

……

Someday, Life will be kinder, love will be blinder, some new afternoon. God speed this bright millennium. Let it come.

Wish upon the moon. Let it come. One day, someday, soon.

(The Hunchback of Notre Dame stage musical final)

cover version by Laurie Beechman which is my favourite interpretation of the song due to how powerful she makes it.

Narrowing it down through the decades is difficult. Early years because my parents played many...from Herb Alpert to Victor Borge to Johnny Cash....My older sisters...Beatles, Monkees, Mixtures...etc. Then came Tina...I suppose. The one which stands out....no River Deep...but Nutbush.

Then this one stands out.....for different reasons.........My first relationship, she played this for me because I was a nice bloke I spose :), helped her through some tough times...we married...but that's another story after that.....blah, blah :). There are many through the years.

Perhaps a song, tune, melody from each decade?

I wish this thread would see more action, other than the OP.

While it isn't my favorite song (too many to list) It's one I could never see myself not listening to.
It's sung by LINDA EDER & it was a favorite of my Mother.
We went to see her in Concert with the Atlanta Symphony on my Birthday and until this day, she was THE BEST Live Performer I have ever seen.
This song is both anthemic and timeless.
Every time I hear this song I cry as I remember my Mother and her face as she was watching the Streisand (Her Fave Female SInger) of my Generation.

It is VIENNA

As said before there are so many songs that fit as a soundtrack to our lives. For two reasons I chose "Visions of Johanna". First: As one of my first loves cheated on me and quit, he said, he will put me now inside his "museum of memories". That rang the lines of "visions" in my head:

"Inside the museums, infinity goes up on trial
Voices echo this is what salvation must be like after a while
But Mona Lisa musta had the highway blues
You can tell by the way she smiles"

Second: As i drove home from a Dylan-Concert, i stuck inside my mobile with a guy who said he has different Dylan-Quotes for different phases of life. Back then it was: "We sit here stranded, though we're all doin' our best to deny it." One year later four persons died in an accident. He was one of them. After an epileptic seizure, a drugged driver sped through a red light at more than 100 kilometers per hour and killed the pedestrians.
