does anybody remember?....back in the 70's/late 70''s maybe, they were braying about how we were headed into the next ice age??? lol, i remember looking at a report in time magazine or us news and world report or something....there was a map showing how far down in the USA the cold would make the growing seasons too short to adequately grow crops....yup, the scientists were sure of it. We were all going to starve to death because of the new ice age. The so called science behind global warming has been proven to be doctored up junk......probably by the same people, or their protoges who were previously predicting we were going to be starved and frozen by now....it might be a religion/politics, or simply a way to keep the funding flowing....but predicting that things would change is about as much of a surprise as the sunrise...of course things will change, it has been doing it for millions of years.... how arrogant/ignorant to expect things to become static just because we are here with what amounts to less than the blink of an eye's time of so-called accurate measurements of the Earth's temperature....laughably ridiculous if it weren't turned into such a political/money thing other than pure, legitimate science.......

Well you may or may not agree with this, but scientist are blaming this polar vortex on global warming. They say that since the Arctic is warming up, it is pushing this cold Arctic air south into the United States. Whether that is true or not is up for speculation.

Long-term global warming trend sustained in 2013

"NASA scientists say 2013 tied with 2009 and 2006 for the seventh warmest year since 1880, continuing a long-term trend of rising global temperatures.

With the exception of 1998, the 10 warmest years in the 134-year record have all occurred since 2000, with 2010 and 2005 ranking as the warmest years on record . . .

Scientists emphasize that weather patterns always will cause fluctuations in average temperatures from year to year, but the continued increases in greenhouse gas levels in Earth's atmosphere are driving a long-term rise in global temperatures. Each successive year will not necessarily be warmer than the year before, but with the current level of greenhouse gas emissions, scientists expect each successive decade to be warmer than the previous."

Oh yeah, I remember back in 1976 or 1977 it got so friggen cold that the power wires contracted so much they snapped all over our rural county. I was in first grade and school was closed for weeks because there was no power to the building. We spent about two months of Saturdays making up all of the missed school days.

Then there was the blizzard we had on March 1, 1980, and there was another big one when I was in High School circa 1990. It hasn't snowed much in this part of the country since then or been that cold.

Ok, so remind me,where's the global warming? I'm sitting here in 14 inches of snow, single digit temperatures. Gimme the global warming!
Global warming... January in germany and +15C... Give me the snow ;)

Global warming doesnt mean it gets warm all around the world. Some areas get warm others cold.

In america the hurricane season starts earlier and ends later
In europe you have every decade sutch a heavy rain that only should show up every century
In central asia do the deserts grow
In south asia it rains like nuts
In some areas of africa it hasnt rained for a decade
Australia has to fight with never knowen heat
First time in modern history ships can move all around the north pole

Looks very mutch like a clima change

Murphy's law says that global warming will show itself where it causes the most inconvenience. So thats not nice pleasant sunny days, its the snow melting when you wanted to go skiing.

It certainly feels like that on the west side of the UK where it has been incredibly wet, even for an incredibly wet place. The problem is that there are historical records of similar types of weather over quite long periods of time, so some are loathed to conclude that anything significantly different is taking place.

Personally though I don't think that it is worth taking the risks and we should be working towards far lower dependency on fossil fuels etc..

@hippyhollowaustin
so, the data out of the 70's doesnt fit the reality - it doesnt mean that there is NO change at all. We just have more time...

The first mega city of 8 million people already runs out of water - Lima

Just ask china and india, what they think about thee clima change... Both will tell you its real and the next big war is about water. Why do you think china occupies tibet? Cause of the beautyfull mountains, the ritch culture or the faithfull people? NO - its cause of water. Every importent river of asia starts at the himalaya.
Currently does china buileds a damm way larger then one at the yellowe river, right at theboarder to india. The river Bramaputra could change its way. Away from india and bangladesh and into china - if so, parts of east india and whole bangladesh will run out of water

So, if you want make fun of the clima change, fine. But the reality looks different

I'm still waiting on correct predictions on whether or not it's raining outside, I'll just enjoy the weather as it comes.

from what i recall, global warming involves extreme weather, including artic temps, more hurricanes etc.

One would think the same atmospheric changes that allow for extreme temperatures in the summer would allow for extreme colds in the winter.

How to respond to people who say the cold weather disproves global warming | Grist

Of course the new spin of some who, for various reasons, wanted to deny that global warming existed at all (rather than expect anyone to respond responsibly to it) is to acknowledge that in fact, it does exist, but as a naturally occurring phenomenon, and not as a result of man-made pollutants, deforestation, and emissions.

There is no such thing as 'clima'.

Your misspelling is an affectation.

Why would anyone do that?

They haven't called their 'theory' that for 10 years or so.
