I've recently seen the word goon & gooner showing up and being said in some of the group cam sites I'm on and it's clear to me that this is something different an unique from the more plain masturbation, jerking off, and wanking that I grew up on.

Last I knew, nobody knew its full origins for sure. One idea is that "goon" refers to making goofy, scrunched up faces.

I would guess that solosexuality and gooning rose to prominence in the last 20-30 years, after the stigmas attached to masturbation were mostly lifted, and men (and to a lesser extent, women) started becoming more adventurous and involved in their self-love. This is a pretty good description of what gooning is. I edge quite regularly and occasionally, maybe once a month, it will turn into a gooning session. There are usually two stages I reach when edging where I know I'm going to goon out.

It's hit and miss for me. I think it helps if you don't make goon your target. Plus just set aside for a lost day for pleasuring your own cock. Don't get too hung up on your choice of porn because when you start getting towards the zone you won't need it. I choose one image (Almost at random from my wank library) and stick to it.
