You have to ask him. It’s a bad idea to assume anything based on external factors. A word of caution: on hookup apps, it’s acceptable to ask right away and most guys disclose their position preferences in their profiles. If you’re going on a date, some guys react poorly if you bring up position too soon. Most guys are happy to disclose, but if he has a very romantic notion of relationships, it could be a deal breaker. These are usually the same guys that don’t like to have sex on a first (or even third) date. If you’re going on a proper date, it’s probably best to play it cool and not bring it up. If things progress and you end up in bed together you’ll figure it out soon enough.
