"ROSWELL" (US) 1994
Director: Jeremy Kagen.
Stars: Kyle MacLachlan, Martin Sheen, Dwight Yoakam.

Another production which came about due to the success of "The X-Files". This award winning T.V. movie was closely based on the book "UFO Crash at Roswell".
The acting is excellent, the effects are 'right', and the cinematography is perfect. It's almost impossible to fault.
Anybody who is interested in this 'event'/myth, should check the movie out.

"SCREAM AND SCREAM AGAIN" (UK) 1970
Director: Gordon Hessler.
Stars: Christopher Lee, Vincent Price, Peter Cushing.

Rarely 'aired', this film is an intriguing 'shocker' from the early 1970's. Featuring the three 'Gods of Horror' Lee, Price and Cushing. Given a more complete script, "SCREAM AND SCREAM AGAIN" could have been so much more.

"SOB" (US) 1981
Director: Blake Edwards.
Stars: Julie Andrews, William Holden, Marisa Berenson.

A film about the 'old sleaze factory' Hollywood. Full of familiar faces sending up their own lifestyle. This is the movie where Julie Andrews gets revenge on her 'goody-two-shoes' image. And she doe's it with style.

"A CANTERBURY TALE" (UK) 1944
Director: Micheal Powell, Emeric Pressburger.
Stars: Eric Portman, Sheila Sim, Dennis Price.

Micheal Powell and Emeric Pressburger made "A CANTERBURY TALE" before "A Matter of Life and Death". I think both films should be classed as cinematic 'works of Art'. If you want to get the most out of these movies. Watch "A CANTERBURY TALE" first.

"VERTIGO" (US) 1958
Director: Alfred Hitchcock.
Stars: James Stewart, Kim Novak, Barbara Bel Geddes.

While Alfred Hitchcock was one of Hollywood's greatest Director's. He was also a Master of 'Dark'. "VERTIGO" is about as 'dark' as you can get. Melancholic to the hilt, this film is 'goth heaven'.

"SE7EN" (US) 1995
Director: David Fincher.
Stars: Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt, Kevin Spacey.

The story center's on a serial killer who enjoys leaving cryptic clues at the scene of his gory crimes. Sometimes hard to watch. It easily 'out-horrors' most contemporary Horror movies. Along with "Kalifornia" this has to be one of Brad Pitt's greatest films.

"THE LIBERTINE" (UK) 2004
Director: Laurence Dunmore.
Stars: Johnny Depp, Samantha Morton, John Malkovich.

Based on the life of the second Earl of Rochester. A notorius 17th century poet and philanderer. In places, this movie is quite hard to watch.
"THE LIBERTINE" is one of the few films in which we get to see Johnny Depp act seriously. In time, this film could be rated as one of his finest.

"THE PHILADELPHIA EXPERIMENT" (US) 1984
Director: Stewart Raffill.
Stars: Micheal Pare, Nancy Allen, Eric Christmas.

Apparently based on a 'true event'. This is a real cool film. Once again due to the era, the effects let the movie down. But the quality of the story and acting make this an excellent film. I was going to comment that "THE PHILADELPHIA EXPERIMENT" is ripe for a remake. I've just found out there is a remake, a T.V. movie. It's supposed to be rubbish!?!.

"SEBASTIANE" (UK) 1976
Director: Paul Humfress, Derek Jarman.
Stars: Barney James, Neil Kennedy, Leonardo Treviglio.

A film based around the story of St. Sebastian. The movie revolves around a group of Roman Centurion's based at a remote outpost. Featuring lots of masculine nudity, "SEBASTIANE" is a very erotic film. It's one of those production's where they should have made both a 'regular' version and a 'porn' version.

"THE BOURNE LEGACY" (US) 2012
Director: Tony Gilroy.
Stars: Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton.

The first current film i've reviewed for this 'thread'. I love the "BOURNE" Trilogy of films. Apart from certain stunts(?), the movies are fucking cool.
I went to see "THE BOURNE LEGACY" with a negative attitude. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. (Unlike the review published with the film details on IDMB). Give this film a chance, you might enjoy it.

"NIGHT OF THE DEMON" (aka "Curse Of The Demon") (UK) 1957
Director: Jacques Tourneur.
Stars: Dana Andrews, Peggy Cummins, Niall MacGinnis.

Based on a story by M.R. James. This is a great horror film all about the Occult. While most of the effects leave a lot to be desired. Both the story and the acting are excellent. The scene involving the children's party is particularly impressive.

"HEAVEN'S ABOVE!" (UK) 1963
Director: John Boulting, Roy Boulting.
Stars: Peter Sellers, Cecil Parker, Isabel Jeans.

A story about a Vicar who takes over a new parish. And all the problems that are associated with the job. Given the lead role, I think this is Peter Sellers greatest film.

"LOADS" (US) 1985
Director: Curt McDowell.
Stars: Curt McDowell.

From one of the maker's of "Thundercrack". This is essentially a porn film starring it's maker. A road movie set within an apartment. The film follows the sexual exploits of Curt McDowell. As he lures guys from the street in for some fun. Sadly, but not too surprisingly Curt McDowell later died of AIDS.

"LES VACANCES DE MONSIEUR HULOT" (FRA) 1953
Director: Jacques Tati.
Stars: Jacques Tati, Nathalie Pascaus, Louis Perrault.

A classic comedy by one of the greatest French comics to have lived. Jacques Tati directed as well as starred in this film. His style of comedy is similar to Charlie Chaplin. beautifully made and great to watch.

"THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY" (US) 1945
Director: Albert Lewin.
Stars: George Sanders, Hurd Hatfield, Donna Reed.

Based on a brilliant story by Oscar Wilde. This is film about a young man's vanity, fear of ageing and excess.
Had someone made a serious porn version of this story in the 1970's. We would still be talking about it now.

"CITY OF ANGELS" (US) 1998
Director: Brad Silberling.
Stars: Nicolas Cage, Meg Ryan, Andre Brugher.

Writtten by Wim Wenders, this is the American adaption of "Wings of Desire". As remake's go, this film works as the story is quite different from the original. Glossy yes, cheesy yes. But this is still a cool movie.

"CHOCOLAT" (UK/USA) 2000
Director: Lasse Hallstrom.
Stars: Juliette Binoche, Judi Dench, Alfred Molina, Johnny Depp.

A romantic fantasy about life in a small French town. While being a bit too sweet for some. This is still a cool classy film.
