I think incorporating some form of measurement (ruler, tape, etc) in the picture is the way to go here... anything else is far from validation. Not trying to impose rules, but it seems to be the most practical way for accuracy

I was at one point running an excel spread sheet that was giving the soft and hard length and girth of members that wanted to send a measured pic. And part of that sheet was a kept running average of length and girth. And you could see who was over and under the average
