I give it and take it in this position with my wife and neither of us have any trouble with it, however to do lots of foreplay including rimming, fingering, multiple fingering, dildo and/or vibe, dildo size increase, all prior to full in anal sex. Sometimes a pillow helps in the missionary position. But when I top I always listen to my bottom. A lot of times if we've fucked before we just instinctively adjust our bodies if necessary. But the rule for me is that if I'm asked to stop or pull out I will.
