Just curious while traveling if anybody has ever had any good experiences utilizing either one of these websites. I see that some of the listings on MisterBNB are also on AirBNB.

The area I would be interested in using a site like this would be New York City, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Springs, California

Like to hear from others their experience utilizing this type of sharing housing while traveling.

The places you pick to stay where the owners there at the same time? I have looked at several were the house or just renting a room or two. Did that work out OK. I guess you make some new friends that way. That’s a positive
One place the owner was a masseur. I think that might be a great place to stay.

In Palm Springs or Fort Lauderdale I would just stay at a gay hotel. Your going to meet more people and probably have a better time.

Can anyone elaborate on the private room and how it works ?
You generally get to stay in a bedroom within the house while the owners are still present and living on the property. Sometimes all of the common spaces are available for sharing and others there's limited common space usage during the stay. It really just depends on the listing.

Depending on the property, the private room may have its own entrance (if it's on a lower level for example) and in other situations it's a bedroom right next to the owner's bedroom and is only private in the sense that no one is sharing the bedroom with you.

Thanks for that will have to try them next time I go way.

How friendly are these guys :p

This is interesting. I've never done the home sharing thing (where the owner of the house is present.) Friends have been suggesting that I rent out my place (airbnb) etc., and that's definitely a possibility. It would just be SO much easier to NOT have to leave.

Does anyone have any experiences to share? Was it cool stayin there while the owner was there too? Awkward at all?

I have stayed a 3 different airbnb's all have been awesome, I hardly even seen the owners and the ones I have were awesome people. I haven't hear of the misterbnb, so can not comment, but will have to give them a try as well.

Misterb&b: gay accommodation, rooms, homestays & gay hotels
I been to an airbnb (probably is misterbnb as well now) in Palm Springs. It was a very nice place(maybe a bit pricey), but renting a motel can be as well and you can treat it just like your own home. I also stayed in one in South Beach FL both was a great option to have. I recommend giving them a try.

I use Airbnb because I don’t want to pay 400 a night for a bed and a shower. I went to Mew Orleans and got a place for $130 for a whole week in the Garden district. I had my own bathroom, entrance and room. It was clean and the host were these two amazing sister. My coming trip to Seattle cost me $460 for five days a block away from the hotel where my friend is having her wedding. If I had booked a hotel in the area for that weekend then I would pay 500+ a night. All I’m gonna do is shower and sleep. Why should I need to do it in a hotel? Personally I like to be out and about as much as I can while I travel so I don’t need much.

I decided to try out hosting / home share a cpl months ago and my initial anxiety was completely unfounded.

I thought it would be awkward bcuz ppl are on their vacation and I didn't want to feel as if I were intruding (even tho it's my house.) Lol

I would say that 80% of guests simply used the room as a hotel room. They didn't really hang out much as they were out experiencing the city most of the time.

The other 20% were more interactive and used the pool / hot tub, backyard etc and invited me to join them.

The guests that I had more interaction with ended up becoming friends and we keep in touch which is cool.

I host a couple bnbs in colorado and its a fun experience. I stay at one of the houses and am here for guests, if they need me. The other place is standalone, with no host on site, but im close should i need to go quiet down a party or drop off some cookies. People of all ages and walks have stayed at my place; single gals, couples and groups of guys and gals. I also provide a pretty special experience apparently, as i keep hearing that its the “best bnb i’ve been to.” Ive only had a couple instances where i was annoyed, like when these gals decided to sleep in separate rooms even tho they booked only one room, or when a couple guys from a foreign country brought back a local dude who was waay too drunk and disrespectful for me to allow to stay. Other than these couple incidents, its a great experience if you have the right personality for the job, and i plan on keeping it going for as long as possible.

With Mister BnB sometimes I have the idea the accomodation website is a cover for gay dates: let us rent out the spare room, who knows something fuckable passes by?

;)
Yea I agree... for both host and guest. In 2019 I don't think sexual orientation should have anything to do with lodging accommodations anymore than renting a car! Lol

The couple times I use the site. Perhaps that thought of finding a fuckable host was there. But it did not happen

But what I did find were nice guys who gave me the lowdown on the gay community in the cities where I rented their house.

Yes, I have had stays where I felt eerie, in some suburbia, with hosts trying to spy me while I was naked under the shower ("Oops, you are here? I only wanted to bring towels") or a host serving breakfast with "coincidentally" his bath robe falling open. That sort of uneasy situations.

In general I go to gay BnB's, hotels, hostels with a chance to meet other gays. Then you are not the lone foreigner and I have met a lot of nice guys this way.

How are you not a "lone foreigner" bcuz it's gay? Not following. If you're a tourist aren't you still a tourist if you stay anywhere?
