Well folks, tomorrow at 2.30pm (UTC +0), I'll be off to Meersbrook, Sheffield (UK), to get cut.

Now I know there is quite some strong feelings towards pro / anti cut, however I've had over 10 years to think about this, and heard of all the arguments on both sides..... this thread is NOT here for that, but as a record of my experiences, for my benefit, as well as for others here whom are looking at the possibility of getting cut.

Being Circumcised in the UK, unlike it is say in the States, is quite uncommon, with the NHS having a complete ban on RIC (Ritualistic Infant Circumcision) / cosmetic circumcisions at any age (Which is a GOOD thing..... least the Male can decide for himself!), unless an actual medical condition requires it..... if this is the situation for the Male concerned, you have to go via the Private route.

My reasons for getting cut, are both medical and cosmetic.

Over ten years back, suffering with a torn Frenulum, a barely qualified Urologist at Nottingham City Hospital (From what my Oncologist friend told me about), and corrective repair at Derby City (Now Royal) Hospital, and the foreskin has never been right since (Uncomfortable during sex), despite me from the beginning asking to be cut, and not mess about with a Frenuloplasty.

Chap I am going to see, is a Mr Altaf Mangera, at a local GP's practice in Meersbrook, Sheffield..... He also has a clinic over in Coventry, Birmingham

QCC

As with any medical thing like this, it pays to do your research and well, and certainly asking questions in places like this, is a good place to start.

I found Mr Mangera via a Google search, as well as having persons from here recommend him, so made the needed enquiries, did a CQC check, and found Mr Mangera is also a Urologist over at the nearby Sheffield Northern General Hospital.

The cost to me, is £550 (£100 to act as a deposit, your own cost may differ, depending on what's required).

After to talking to a number of folks on here, I'm going for a High / Tight cut (Seams to be the most common style, and Mr Mangera did ask me about this), with anesthetics being a Penile Ring Block (Local).

Method of surgery, I believe is a mix of Laser / Freehand / Clamp, with stitching / glue as required, however as I have no Frenulum to deal with, things should be more strait forward than would normally be expected.

Did spend a good 10 / 15 mins on the phone to Mr Mangera about this, felt quite at ease with his questions, as was he when I asked my own questions, so along with my research, feel very confident I will get a good result from this.

Right, getting ready for bed, don't need to get up early, however got a bit of a Train / Bus trip to get to this place, but should take me no longer than 90 mins.

On train from Matlock to home, so this is the first chance I've got to inspect the damage.

Bit swollen and bruised, but think I'm doing okay.

This is a bit strange, but I've started leaking a bit of precum..... Pray to hell I don't get hard, or those stitches are gonna hurt.

Morning after the event, surprisingly very little pain, although I did wake with a bit of morning wood.

Found out the prodedure I had, was a sleeve resection.

Just wished the dam cat would quit trying to jump onto my crotch :D

For those interested, contact info for Mr Altaf Mangera, whom operated on me.

Urology Surgeon Led Male Circumcision Clinic in Sheffield and Coventry

He has clinics in Meersbrook, Sheffield (Sloan Medical Centre, 20 mins on Stagecoach X17 from Ponds Forge Bus Station, just across from Sheffield Train Station, or a short Uber for about £6), and Coventry.

Still early days yet, but from what I have experienced so far, the booking and the actual procedure, has been flawless, very open and honest chap, real nice to deal with.

do u have phimotic ring just over the sutures line?

Far as I'm aware (I could not see what was going off, as I was flat on my back), the procedure used was a sleeve resection, using a Hemostat machine, and a clamp.

No ring or anything else used, other than sutures and glue as needed.

It's still very swollen at this stage (Just over 24 hrs later), so will get a better idea in around a weeks time.

Congratulations ............... I had my circ, at age 19 y.0. in 1974, by choice. I am glad that I made the choice. I.M.O. our North American Culture should lean towards this approach rather than RIC.

My decision was based purely on peer pressure. In 1954 RIC was the vogue at about 80% . Now it is about 30% in Canada.

Regrettably, looking back, as my doctor advised, I had a "perfect foreskin" and should re-think my decison; however, peer pressure was a big issue for me back then.

Cut /Uncut - unless medically required, what does it matter. The most important matter is that you have made the decision and not someone else.

It has taken me 48 years to finally settle circumcision in my own mind. What a waste of attention.

I saw your posts following your surgery. Yup, that looks just about the same as mine. It was 4 - 5 weeks before I could j.o. Blue balls were an issue, and not pulling wood.

All the best and I look forward to future posts.

Yep..... RIC is a massive hate of mine, as it takes away that choice, that the male concerned, has to live with..... Far better to wait till he is old and mature enough to understand and to make an informed choice himself.

I'm already starting to get the urge to have a play (I was exactly the same when I had my Frenuloplasty some years back), but this is much more than a Frenuloplasty, so need to learn to keep my hands off, till it's ready..... then I will go have some fun! ;)

Speaking of fun, some friends and even workmates have clued me in on some Spa's / Club's, and Rio's in Kentish Town (I'm regally over in near by Camden) London, I've had my eye on for some time, so I think I need to make a date there.

I was cut at age 35 in the U S. I was admitted to hospital on a Wednesday afternoon. I was operated on Thursday morning. I was put totally out. I was released from hospital on Friday morning. The day I was admitted they started me on anti swelling pills. I had no discussion with the Doctor about the type of cut I would get. I wasn't aware I could have chosen a high and tight cut, which I would preferred to have.
I received a low and loose cut. My scar is only about 1/4" from the head. So I wish there had been discussion about the scar location.
I was given a prescription for about a dozen Amyl Nitrate Ampules. These were to be broken in the gauze and inhaled to deflate any erection I might get. They were very effective. I had a bandage on my penis that I wore for about 6 hours after my release. And then unwrapped the bandage from my penis.
I was given a prescription for pain pills. I was told to take them before the pain got too intense. I felt a slight burning sensation, so I took a pain pill. I probably didn't take more than 3 pain pills.
But I didn't have any swelling problems post surgery. The anti swelling meds did what they were supposed to do.
I'm satisfied with my circumcision status. I had myself circumcised for cosmetic reasons. I wish my parents had had me circumcised when I was born. My circumcision scar would probably
have been higher up on my shaft.

Amyl Nitrate, aka Poppers? I know the stuff is well known to treat Angina and Cyanide Poisoning (The Cyanide thing I knew well when working for the UK version of Walgreens, Boots The Chemist in Nottingham), but pretty much anything from this family of "Nitrates", has a habit of making me semi-hard at least, so is interesting they gave you this.

There was no discussion on cut styles with my surgeon; I too would have preferred and high and tight. I am low and loose as well. It can be a bit of a problem when you experience "abnormal shrinkage" and the looser skin sometimes come slightly over the corona; that is very uncomfortable.

I always saw the scar as a "badge of honor"

Our post surgery experience sounds very similar.

I paid for a circumcision and I expected the head to be always exposed. Not to have the shaft skin rolling over onto the Corona when I have abnormal shrinkage. Yes the scar is a badge of honor.

In so many ways, a loose cut like this, gives you the advantage of leaving things as they are, or you can go for a revision to make things more tight....... be more difficult for you to go from tight to loose.

Obviously if you are not happy with this loose cut, least you can correct this easily enough.

Day 3, bruising and lower shaft swelling is going down, however near the site of the cut, still a considerable amount of swelling, which should go in time.

Still leaking a fair amount of Pre, just don't understand that at all, but I was exactaly the same when I had my frenulum done years back.

Yep, did have a brief moment yesterday right where the PA hole is, thinking shit some of the stitching had failed, but today now swelling has gone down a bit more, I see it actually has not.

good to hear; i did have a stitch fall out way ahead of the rest. I was concerned then, however it all worked out.

I don't know why you wern't given anti swelling meds pre-op. When I was given meds day before the surgery, I was curious to know what the meds were for. The nurse said they were for post-op swelling.
