Any tips or advice as a new comer on a nascar race
I've been to both experiences (NASCAR owned vs. SMI owned) and they are generally very similar. I purposefully try not to get there too early as you will run out of things to do. Otherwise, you will be cooking in the grandstands or just sitting under them for a while pre-race. The best day to actually go is Saturday when Xfinity or Trucks run companion events as there is non-stop on-track action, you get to see the Cup cars qualify and it's not as difficult to get out of the track when you are trying to leave because its not jam packed. Assuming you are going Sunday, you will run into the merchandise trailers first which is fun to look around. Drivers sometimes do autographs but you have to be at the track super early for this or catch them earlier in the weekend. It is NOT my experience that you will get any free shit that has been mentioned above unless you participate in fan engagement activities. There are engagement things setup by manufactures (Chevy, Ford and Toyota). Then there is the NASCAR experience stuff where they have simulators, kids areas and show cars setup. That gets you up to a good hour if you're lucky. Then its inside the track and some food/drink if you need it and didn't bring your own. Each track has there own policies, but would highly recommend bringing your own food/drink if you can as track food is ridiculously expensive. On Sunday if you want to get home at a decent time and beat traffic i'd recommend leaving with 50 laps to go. I don't have a favorite driver, just go for the fun of it when I can so I really don't care who wins so not worth my time to get stuck in traffic for 2 extra hours. Others who have favorite drivers may stay to conclusion if their driver is running well/has a chance to win. Enjoy!
