Hello everyone,

I need to lose a lot of weight before my 12th 29th birthday in August 2023. I'm not trying to add muscle as this fat ass Chevy Tahoe body has to go.

Height: 5'7 (short as hell. I know)
Current Weight: 275lbs
Goal Weight: 150lbs

I have been 150lbs before so I know what I will look like. I gained a lot of weight in 2014 (over 100lbs in 90 days) when I was on 2 pain killers, 2 anti depressants and 3 high blood pressure medications at the same time and I have struggled to lost the weight ever since. I'm no longer on any of that stuff. My metabolism is pretty much dead so losing weight naturally doesn't happen. I do take diet pills (https://supplementwarehouse.com/products/hi-tech-pharmaceuticals-lipodrene-with-ephedra-90-tablets-2) to help me out and they do help (I've lost 20lbs so far), but I'm fucking up severely in the exercise and food department and I need to fix that.

A large amount of weight is in my stomach and I have thunder thighs. TBH I'm not concerned about the legs/thighs. The stomach area is the main concern as it makes me look like I'm 9 months pregnant plus it messes with the ruptured discs in my back. I need to know what exercises I can use to help accelerate weight loss especially in the stomach area. I have invested in an elliptical and I'm getting my treadmill out of my storage unit soon to help me out. I also want to plump up the booty naturally with specific butt exercises, but I don't want my legs to get any bigger. Thank God I don't have chicken legs so I won't look stupid.

As for food I will admit that I am completely stupid when it comes to food. I have ZERO nutrition knowledge and if I'm honest I really don't like food. I just end up eating something so I don't get sick (Except seafood since I'm allergic to it). I think I need to stay around 1,200-1,500 calories to lose weight. Is there a certain diet that I can follow that will assist with this?

Thanks for reading. Any advice helps.

Sidenote: Does anyone know if laser hair removal works on all skin tones? I want to remove all hair below the neck (with the exception of the dick, balls and taint) and mustache/beard area.

I topped out at around 275 myself, in 2012-2015. I'm down to 190 through a combination of exercise and - this year - a ketogenic diet. Given your physical limitations (the disks, etc) I'd suggest start by walking. Just move. I started very small by spending 15 minutes just bopping around, but consistently moving for those 15 minutes. I now do 30 minutes of cardio every day.

I'm 61 years old. I'm 80 pounds lighter and far healthier than I was at 40 and 50. I tried all the fads, even getting weekly shots and a thousand calorie a day regimen at one point. You have to shift your mindset and start with baby steps. Nothing radical, just movements in a specific direction.

(The keto diet is actually pretty easy, btw. Simply no sugar and limited carbs. I usually just eat a protein and a vegetable at every meal. I'm down 30 pounds in six months.)

It won't be easy and it will take focus. And commitment. Don't think of it as dieting, think of it as a lifestyle change. I've blogged about it several times, you're welcome to read the entries if it helps motivate you -- particularly the ones I've written since the beginning of the year.

Start with this one, written just a few days before I started keto.

I've never been in your situation but have had friends who were/are. The only successful program any of them have used to lose weight and keep it off is Weight Watchers.

It costs but is effective. They also include nutritional education & counseling.

Glad to hear you're getting active on an elliptical. Consult with your physician on your exercise program if you haven't already. I hope your medical issues don't interfere too much. Disc disease can be horrific.

Good luck to you! :)

80 pounds down is great! I have never tried keto diets, but I will look into it. I have seen a lot of books available on it. I'll get on amazon and buy one.

Thanks for the blog link. I'm gonna go through the site. I'm actually very self conscious about being naked. Actually I'm only naked when I take a bath.

I will check into WW as well. They usually have specials for newcomers. My doctor cleared me to use it. I just can't lift, push or pull anything that weighs more than 20lbs so a lot of weight lifting is out for me

If you are serious... And I mean serious... Never eat outside of the house again till you reach your goal. I don't care what others say about "cheat days". I don't care about any restaurant's bs about their "keto" menu. DO NOT EAT OUT AGAIN TILL YOU REACH YOUR GOAL. Prepare ONLY WHOLE FOODS from scratch. Consume water like you are in a desert. Sleep 7-8 hours every night. DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL.

This a lofty and noble goal. You will get many ideas. My non professional advice is it will be 90% diet. But your toughest hill to climb will be your own mind. There will be weeks you lose at least that amount. Others you will lose zero. This is where the mind fuck comes into play. On the days you can't get to the gym, go for a long walk. You'd be amazed what diet and a brisk walk will do for weight loss.

Lofty goal require lofty actions. And the almost bigger benefit? You will save a TON of money.

1st thing you need to realize is there is absolutely nothing you can do to spot reduce fat. The only thing you could possibly do is train your abs to build muscle which will then make them appear a little sooner once you start to lose weight in that area. That goes for every other muscle in your body.

My biggest suggestion is to start tracking your calorie intake. I know this can seem super annoying, It's something I refused to do for the longest time but it really became a game changer once i actually stuck with it. I was shocked at how quickly i started to lose weight once i started tracking my calories. Download and use the app "Lose It!" and track every single thing you put into your body. You will be shocked at how much calories you actually consume vs what you think you consume.

The app is really simple to use once you set everything up. All you have to do is scan the barcode from the packaging of the food you're eating and input how much you're consuming. I also highly recommend buying a food scale, this is almost a non-negotiable. You even said yourself you have zero knowledge of nutrition so without a food scale, you will most likely consume way more than you think you are.

When you first download it, It will ask you various questions and set up a plan for you to lose weight. For me, it suggested keeping my daily calorie intake below 2,200. I have been using it since May 30th, 2022 and Ive gone from 317lbs to 302lbs (also worth noting im 6'1). This loss is obviously significant for such a short amount of time but I weighed 42 more pounds than you currently do so don't be discouraged if you don't lose that much as fast.

I lost that amount of weight primarily from keeping my calories below 2,200, however there were some days where i managed to stay below 1,800-,1900. I work from home and sit at my desk all day. The only exercise I really do is walking (50 minutes to an hour, brisk walking) which so far I've only done about 2-3 times a week since starting to track my calories. I definitely would have lost more by now if i walked everyday.

When tracking your calories, don't forget to include stuff like condiments and butter/margarine (example: I use margarine when greasing a frying pan for eggs, I track this as well). In terms of what foods to buy, I will explain what works for me and what I eat every day.

For breakfast, I eat steel cut oats mixed with and peanut butter and light maple syrup (light as in calorie/sugar reduced syrup) and use sugar free cream for my coffee. The steel cut oats taste extremely bland on their own which is why i mix PB and syrup with it. I keep a ton of frozen veggies in my freezer as i cannot stand to prepare fresh veggies every time for my lunch and dinner. I buy the more expensive frozen veggies (Arctic Gardens) as I find they taste way better than the cheaper Great Value frozen veggies. You can steam the veggies in a frying pan by lightly coating the base of the pan with water and covering the pan with a lid. Keep the pan on high until all of the water evaporates completely and you have perfectly steamed veggies.

For lunch I have eggs with roughly a cup of frozen veggies mixed with light ranch sauce and hot sauce. Use whatever sauce you like the best and get a light version if available. If you like spicy food i highly recommend hot sauce as most are usually 0 calories and they pack so much flavour. For dinner i have ground chicken mixed with veggies as well and use light ranch, honey garlic sauce and hot sauce as seasoning. I manage to stay under 1,900 calories when i eat only this in a day. A cup of frozen veggies is well below 100 calories.

As for exercise, do whatever you can bear and don't set high expectations for yourself. Start slow and try to focus on building a habit of exercising consistently each week. The exercise I enjoy most is walking outdoors. I tried to force myself to use the elliptical for a half hour everyday but it became unenjoyable so I went back to walking. Find an exercise you truly enjoy (or can bear) and just stick with it, even if that means it may not get you to your results as fast as other exercises.

You want a high-protein, low calorie, high volume diet. Don't be afraid of artificial sweeteners, they work.

Introduce some low calorie / high volume foods:
0 cal sodas, pickles, smartPOP popcorn (100cal / bag), sugar-free jello mix, sugar free gum is also great to chew when you're bored

Sugar-free pudding mix is great to thicken up protein shakes, or add some ice to make protein ice cream. You can also get bags of sweeteners like stevia, monk fruit, or sucralose. - Adding sugar free pudding mix and extra sweetener allows you to add more water/almond milk to shakes, so you get even more volume with few added calories

I also prefer powdered peanut butter, which can be reconstituted with water or egg whites and of course some added sweetener

Still the main meals should still be meat, eggs and vegetables.

You'll have to count calories at some point, but by replacing your current diet with lower calorie options, you can probably get away with eyeballing your diet for a while

Also, try to eat slowly, even taking a break mid-meal to allow yourself to begin digesting. If you're no longer hungry, STOP EATING. If you get satisfied eating less, you will lose weight over time and not regain it. The calorie counting is good. If you buy prepared meals or eat out, check the calorie count. Think of the day as budgeting the calories among all your meals, snacks, drinks, etc. If a meal is more caloric, eat less and save the rest for another day.

Hot drinks such as tea and coffee are filling and low in calories. Soup can also be filling. In general, you want low carb or complex carbs, high protein, high fiber. Dark green veggies are good. Cauliflower is good and can be pureed with a little butter, cream and cheddar and make a great sub for mashed potatoes.

Alcohol kills diets -- sugary/carby, slows metabolism, etc.

All sage advice. I'd add that (1) salt causes retention of water and weight -- often the first week of a diet you lose water weight in addition to burning calories from fat. Subsequent weeks there may be days when you don't lose weight and then days when you lose a few pounds. Over time, if you stick with it, you'll lose; exercise, even walking or biking, can jumpstart your metabolism, as can breakfast (I'd go with an egg or two -- high in protein, low in calories), and (3) if you're not good at preparing your own meals, look into the various services that will prepare meals. They will give you controlled portions, too.

Dude, you are what you eat. Learn how to cook. Buy fresh food. Vegetables, meat, rice, beans, etc. Don't buy fast food. Don't buy sodas. You can eat healthy food that tastes good and that satisfies you.

Your diet is more important than exercises if you want to modify your weight.

Hello,
may i ask why you say why you need to lose weight before that time in 2023? I read your post and to be honest, i'm screaming internally. 257 lbs, after converting, is totally fixable and technically, since you are serious about losing weight (to 150lbs?!), it will be easier than you thought.
Imagine that my weight currently is 313. I'm not trying to compete in "who's the biggest" au contraire. I lost 30bs once without doing nothing but just reducing things, i didn't do any diet, i'm a bon vivant when it comes to food (hello french here!), always choosing the easy way etc. The thing you have to do before anything is to reduce the quantity of food. Reducing means the stomach won't cry for food, you won't have the feeling to starve anymore.
Losing weight is a process: i will struggle with weight due to the mind and the genetics, but it's managable if you want it. But it can't turn into privation only, the mind must be in adequation with your will power. Otherwise what people feel is frustration. This is something that i didn't see in the subsequent answers of your post. I'm not saying you're wrong guys, i'm just exposing that the mind must go along with, especially if you have a precise goal for an even more precise day. It's something people don't tell enough but you can lose your mind for endless of reasons and do the mistake to go back to binge-eating. Strong mind means a strong health. I think i finally reached that plateau myself.
It will be a long road. Good luck to you.

It's more of a personal goal. I feel like the longer I wait the harder it will be to get the weight off. Plus a whole year is enough time to lose weight.

I'm working on calorie reduction now. Will start with the mind next.

I shouldnt be talking cause i dont have this issue but my ex went through a weight loss journey and he used to use the airfryer for all his meals and eliminated bread and processed foods. meat and veg. he lost about 50kgs in about 2 years

With the weight you have, one year is enough though i think your weight goal is much. One extreme to another doesn't work on the long term. Just be careful ^^

Water. Replace meals with water. And meals with one ingredient foods like banana, apple, egg, oats. If your stomach is starving have a spoonful of peanut butter, crunchy peanut butter helps with hunger. If your diabetic, watch your sugar in take to be less than 10g of sugar a day. It will be alot of math at first, but you’ll learn to know what’s good for you. Also sugarless yogurt is great as well. Don’t cheat. If you do, get back to doing what you need to do. If you could make one meal a day a salad, it will change your life. Also 40 squat, 40 push up, 40 sit ups a day challenge is life changing. Try to make a 20 minute walk talking to your best Judy on your phone a thing. 20 minutes of exercise starts to burn the fat reserve on your body. I lost a lot of weight and I’ve helped a lot of ppl get in shape before they fell in love got pregnant and fat again. But they know what to do if they want to stay in shape.

I love that all these posts are based on actual facts and with the intention of helping. Shows how strong this community really is. I’ve never been overweight myself but my only advice would be more on the mental side which is as, if not more important, than the diet itself.

Everyday you will have to commit to your goals. Our brains are hardwired to keep us safe and comfortable which is why most people even with success in the beginning tend to regress after a few months. It’s no joke and even on the days when you’re sore and tired and “hungry”, you need something that you can look at or read to remind yourself that you are driving your own destiny. Everyday when you wake up is a new day to get that much closer to your goal. Some days you’ll notice changes, some you won’t. You are rewriting your story and that takes time, energy, and commitment. Had a friend that said something to me that clicked and has stuck with me when I started to work out and bulk up was this: “I’d rather torture myself in the gym for one hour, than torture myself in the mirror for 8+ hours”. It’s so true and now when I look in the mirror, I don’t see how I’m not at my goal but rather the work that I’ve put in so far and it fuels me to go further.

I would definitely suggest learning a bit more about nutrition and calories to understand what food does to our bodies. Food is fuel, not comfort. That way even if you are out, you can make the best choice for what you need to refuel yourself. Drink a glass of water slowly 30 mins before every meal. It helps psychologically satiate hunger. Commit to walking 10,000 steps per day.

Hope everyone’s advice helps you and gets you to your goal. Just remember, your actions are the only thing that will get you there. You are capable, you are willing, you are in charge of your journey. So steer straight and don’t look in the rear view mirror to often cause the road ahead is more important.

Like a lot of people have said you have to commit to a life style change. I consider myself a work in progress. I have battle weight my whole life. Sucked being a fat kid in a family of jocks. At 44 i am still working on it. I run every day. Two marathons in. Started with one foot in front of the other. The food is still a problem. I like food. I will agree with high protein low carb. Just make sure you work every day. Some days will be set backs. But every day you will better then where you started. I also belong to running groups online. The community is awesome. Everyone has a similar story. The support is amazing. Good luck and dont every give up on yourself.
