Ooh! Just heard from an actor friend in Vancouver that studios are very keen to capitalize on the success of SUPERSEX (the Rocco Siffredi part fiction/part real story bio drama on Netflix) and the first one up (as in locking in script, money, and star commitments as we speak) could be one very loosely inspired by the life and death of Kris Slater.
Apparently it won't actually be about him (out of respect for his family and to give them more freedom to tell their own story), but more from an original idea inspired by his journey, but I think it sounds interesting and way more watchable than SUPERSEX, because there's so much more there to explore over several episodes beyond the sex and beautiful naked bodies on display. (Slater was Army Airborne and one of only a couple survivors from a violent Army accident, he became a beloved adult performer, battled some demons, but came out on top, retiring early to enjoy life with his wife and kids. Sadly, he passed away shortly after; so a story even just lightly inspired by that would be pretty cinematic). They also said they want it to be a positive and inspiring story, more sex positive than the Siffredi one, which tied a lot of his sex work to his personal issues. This one wouldn't paint its guy as a tragedy from day one, which should make enjoying watching the nudity and sex way more enjoyable.
So who do you think could play the lead? Who do you WANT to play the lead? I assume they have to be a good enough actor to pull it off and get at least as naked and sexual as they did in SUPERSEX.
Per my friend, some names in the mix are Cooper Koch (who just got nominated for a Golden Globe, built his fanbase with underwear and nude shoots, and has done lots of frontal in movies and TV) and Nicholas Galitzine (who I think wore a prosthetic on Minx, also built a fanbase being naked on the regular, in shoots and films) but also 2-3 lesser knowns they can "introduce," including my personal indie fave David Eggers II (who, in my mind, is an OBVIOUS choice, lol), so I am losing my mind over that possibility, obvs. But I don't know if that means they are in contract talks or just on some producer's wishlist.
Now for the fun part: Which of those guys is your pick? Or do you think someone else could play the Slater character (or any of the other big porn stars from that time, who I am sure will have versions in the film)? They have to be able to pull off the story and do justice to the sex and nudity?
