Let's say God appears before every person on Earth and says, "no more heterosexuals!" This divine decree ends heterosexuality in humans on planet Earth. Even bisexuality disappears.

How would this affect the world? How would it affect society? Would humanity be worse off or better? How old you react to this situation?

What you ponder is too strange to know where to start.

I at least know if this were to happen, there would be a major uptick in gay porn produced - yeah!

men would be with men... women would be with women... life would continue as normal... and there would be a new law where men and women would be compensated for their participation in procreation services so that humanity would continue.

these threads are so entertaining...

I think a lot of the basic foundations of society would change.

First the world would become a matriarchy. Fatherhood would disappear and masculinity would be taught to boys by extended family members like uncles. Speaking of extended family, that would become the new normal. The nuclear family would cease to exist and be replaced by tight knit collections of extended families of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

However as much as things change they will still stay the same. In these family groups men will be valued for their abilities as a provider. Most women will prefer to have only 1 or 2 female children but multiple male children in order to have multiple sources of income for the family. Women would still be valued for their reproductive abilities as it is only women that can continue on the family.

Men would most likely stop entering into relationships on average. The average male would spend a lot of time fucking in their teens and twenties fucking, then in their 30s and 40s they would slow down to only a few times a week. Each man would end up with thousands of partners during his lifetime. The ugliest man would have a few hundred.

More to come as I think of it.

How is this a “story”? This is at best a guided discussion based on a hypothetical situation. And should be someplace else in the forums, just not here.

if you agree then report it to the mods and ask them to move it.

Just to be clear, I didn't put it here originally and agree with you completely.
Fair enough. Then the nameless mod that did this doesn’t know what a story is vs. a question. E5A72F7F-484E-4449-B51E-5FA1A29AB414.png

But we can artificially inseminate people. You don't think we would just switch to that?

Well, initially I didn't even think of it.

I don't really know enough to say whether that would be viable or not. I do know that artificial insemination as it stands currently is far more resource draining than the natural version is. Would we even be materially able to sustain the species relying so heavily on such a costly procedure? We'd have to really get into speculation and data analysis to determine that. But I have doubts.

There's also the motivational question. I'm not confident a society full of people only attracted to the same sex would be sufficiently driven to coordinate such a considerable system of artificial reproduction. You might think that the imperative to maintain the species would make that happen, but much of the force of that imperative is rooted in the more base instinct to mate with members of the opposite sex; it's not originally conceptual.

Yes, somewhat bizarre isn’t it?

A fictitious story is a description of imaginary people and events, which is written or told in order to entertain.

Not to diminish what is an interesting discussion point. I’d suggest that the topic would make a good novel (or story!) but I bet it’s already been done.

I think there is a desire to have children within many people, especially women. That desire along with some government encouragement should be enough IMO.

Some of the mods have an issue with me, that's all. So they do petty, stupid things like this to slight me. Simple as that.
