Agree with your "sleazy" comment about OF. Simply look what they did. Others have said it and I am simply re-echoing. OF made an immense capital from adult entertainers and sex works. There is no shame in that. Sex work is work. Not that they and the shareholders and etc have enough, they made this decision to ban the content that got them those capital funds in the first place.

I do think lessons could be learn from this. For example, the old saying of "not putting all the eggs in the basket" could apply to creators who relied OF as the primary source of income and not diversifying their portfolio with competing platforms. I do think the vast majority of OF creators with intelligent and business acumen don't have to be worry about. I am certain they have Plan B in place in the event of this happening.

The reason Amex doesn't support any porn transactions is because the chargeback rates are super high for the whole industry. Then take a site like OF that is designed to be as opaque as possible + enables scammers, and I bet the chargebacks are ridiculous (and rightfully so).

OF is a sleazy, corrupt company that gives zero shits about the user experience. They have only ever cared about maximizing transaction volume--that's why they've never even bothered to add a simple review system. They love it when horny people make bad decisions and get ripped off, because it means more money for them. Getting axed by the credit card companies is the product of its own greed.

Hopefully they get replaced by a decent platform that cares about customers.

A platform that lets you see a preview of the product BEFORE you pay.

A platform that doesn't let people double charge you via surprise PPV paywalls.

A platform that at a minimum, has a review system so customers don't get ripped off.

A platform that lets users download the videos THEY PAID FOR.

Yeah OF never gave a crap about the actual patrons/customers. So I'm kind of hoping they sink for this. Lame greedy folks. They deserve it.

Hopefully JFF can replace them easily and they won't let the creators get away with scammy BS.

There are plenty of cam sites and porn sites that accept credit cards. So it is strange that this is the reason.

I assume that the the CC companies that allow adult content processing (MC, Visa, Discover among a few others) trust the major porn outfits (think men.com network, etc.) when it comes to ensuring that everyone is of age with all the correct documents on file. What they take issue with is sites that allow user submission, a lot of potential red flags there. Even if accounts are fully verified, there are cracks that are easy to exploit in an online only situation (say a 16yr old verifies using the information of a slightly older sibling, etc.).

Is it really just a case of religious fanatics turning up the heat for barely any reason, sure. But it exposes the fringe problems and that is what creates these end results.

Just noticed that MindGeek (men.com etc.) had its own problem with payments, but still it was an issue with user submissions that they were able to bypass in the end on sites that didn't allow user submission. The religious fanatics really going after porn at the moment. LOL

But what about cam sites like chaturbate and cam4. They have roughly the same verification process as onlyfans and they never had an issue like that

I know it'll be a cat fight between all these sites to see who gets to be the next big thing before credit card companies target them next, but for the love of god can the next site hire UI/UX designers so we don't have dumb shit like accounts with hundreds of videos and only being able to look through them with infinite scroll?

The previews and charging for videos under a subscription thing are also a different headache.

The hardest thing will be playing the who is going where game. As it stands tumblr never actually got replaced and just had a semi exodus to twitter which basically just became a giant feed of Onlyfans advertisements. Twitter is awful for video content and only recently got half decent at images.

It'll also be interesting to see how much more aggressive this situation becomes. Crypto is in its infancy and is way too volatile and credit card companies throwing a fit because of boring evangelicals everytime a platform gets too large will keep this complicated.

No chance. The owner owns myfreecams and is crushing it. He'll be just fine and can finance this for years to come.

He also owns 75% of Only Fans, which has a combined revenue of something like 5 billion dollars. If OF takes a cut of 20% he has netted just under a billion dollars. Obviously there are business costs but he has probably personally taken in over a half a billion dollars. Thats not chump change...

I'm hearing conflicting reports. On the one hand these articles are claiming nothing explicit and on the other hand I believe the following was shared with performers today

Where did someone in OF management go "Ok, fisting is fine. But I'm drawing the line at extreme fisting, and NONE SHALL PASS!"

  1. They updated their acceptable use policy
  2. Do not upload, post, display, or publish Content on OnlyFans that: shows, promotes, advertises or refers to “sexually explicit conduct”, which means:
    1. actual or simulated sexual intercourse, including genital-genital, oral-genital, anal-genital, or oral-anal, between persons of any sex;
    2. actual or simulated masturbation;
    3. any exhibition of the anus or genitals of any person which is extreme or offensive;
    4. actual or simulated material depicting bodily fluids commonly secreted during sexual conduct;

I take back what I said it looks like sexually explicit content will not be allowed. Wow.
It is incredibly unclear and the lack of punctuation makes it even worse. For example:

5. b. iii. Any exhibition of the anus or genitals of any person which is extreme or offensive

That could be read as either ‘extreme exhibition’ or ‘extreme genitals,’ one is closeups showing only genitals the other bans all LPSG worthy creators. Tumblr stated similarly vague things and now they routinely remove content with well endowed male athletes, wearing tight uniforms, but showing no skin.

It seems they have decided not to become Tumblr 2.0:
https://twitter.com/onlyfans/status/1430499277302816773?s=21

Confirmed by the BBC (not that BBC, the actual BBC):
OnlyFans suspends policy change after backlash

This is good news however the damage has already been done, why should content creators continue using the website that was willing to betray them, the trust is gone. I imagine many creators will continue to move elsewhere, or at the very least begin looking for alternatives/backup plans in case OF tries to do something like this again (i bet they will).

Or they will do it slowly over time, without an announcement.
