Only Fans company announced it's banning sexually explicit videos starting from next October.

The company will prohibit users from posting any sexually explicit conduct, starting in October. Creators will still be allowed to post nude photos and videos, provided they’re consistent with OnlyFans’ policy, the company said Thursday.

The changes are needed because of mounting pressure from banking partners and payment providers, according to the company.

“In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of our platform, and the continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines,” OnlyFans said.

Tumblr has also purged NSFW content, which its users responded by leaving the platform.

I just saw this trending on Twitter:
OnlyFans is banning porn, the very thing that made it big

OnlyFans grew off the back of sex workers, who found a safe haven in the platform to charge their fans for access to explicit photos and videos. Unfortunately, there remains a stigma in the world surrounding sex, and OnlyFans empowering a new generation of entrepreneurs to run their own independent businesses — and make millions doing it — apparently wasn’t enough to change that perception.

Now instead of looking like a positive force in the world, OnlyFans could be seen as betraying the people who got it where it is today. Its turn away from explicit content could help it attract more upscale partners, but sex workers will remain in the underground economy where they’ve always been stuck as capitalism decides that their work isn’t acceptable.

Besides OnlyFans and Patreon, the microblogging site Tumblr also banned pornography in the interest of attracting advertisers. Adult creators are increasingly running out of spaces to make money on the internet that they have full ownership of.

OnlyFans could get past the porn to be a successful “creator economy” platform for other types of content, but its reputation has been pretty solidly ingrained as a go-to place for porn, so... good luck with that.

Its interesting people just assume 'other platforms' will host the porn
since the 'ban' is all down to the banks and payment systems that refuse to associate with sex work .

its difficult for ANY platform to function without payment methods and a banking system.
so the ban will most likely extend to Just4fans and any other similar platform.

Mastercard withdrew it payment system from PornHub Premuim
Paypal dont allow any sex workers to use its system - they banned people paying for Webcam shows via paypal

It seems sex workers will have to go back to working the corner' and taking cash only

UPDATE:

Only Fans said today it will no more ban sexually explicit content, stating it “secured assurances to support our diverse creator community” but without elaborating, according to Reuters news agency.
