The first thing to say is that many use these terms interchangeably: climax, orgasm, ejaculation. Others don't. I don't. Here's my take.

I like the rollercoaster analogy. I've just crested the top of a big hill, momentum means there's no going back and I know it. That's climax. The release downhill is orgasm which almost always coincides with ejaculation.

Yes we know very well what you’re referring to , however there’s not really a scientific term for it outside of the “point of no return.” The 4 phases of the male orgasm are: arousal/excitement, plateau, orgasm, and refraction/resolution.

Anatomically the words climax and orgasm are/mean the same thing. Those few seconds between the beginning of intense pleasure and ejaculation don't have a scientific term. It's just the beginning of orgasm.

But I know exactly what you're describing and I call those few seconds before contractions begin climax. What I call orgasm is the massive pleasure/release which follows even though it begins a few seconds before the contractions.

"Almost maddening" describes those few seconds perfectly.

I think you had a kind of so called „valley orgasm” , or almost close to it. It’s different to the peak orgasm with ejaculation and a step to reaching multiple orgasms.
