It doesn't matter what his actual politics are compared to his roles. Most actors, if they're desperate (which I'd argue Oscar was), will snatch up any role regardless of how much they don't like it. Hell sometimes they'll even take rolls they actively despise. I mean look at Schnapp with Abe; The description is literally "A boy from Brooklyn tries to unite his half-Israeli and half-Palestinian family through cooking" and years later now we know where he stands on that

I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if years late Oscar says he hated the roll and disavows the gays or something but for now he has to sit and act pretty at least until he can get literally anything better.
