Hey guys,

I don't know why but I'm extremely terrified of the penis pump I just purchased. I'm extremely excited to start using it but I am oddly terrified of horrible things happening (bursting a blood vessel is among the top concerns of mine). I purchased the NS Novelties Renegade Pump which is electric which I thought was going to be the best bet but I don't know if it's me but I feel like I can't control the pressure with ease or keep track of time, the cylinder is hard to put on. Since I'm also nervous as fuck there isn't a way to automatically turn it off and that gives me anxiety.

Do you guys think it's wiser to get one of the models that I pump myself or should I stick with this electric? Also, does anyone know at about what point a blood vessel would burst. I have my dick so lubed up and my veins are super pronounced and I just can't tell.

PLEASE HELP. I WANNA GET GAINS. Some of you guys look awesome with them.

It's kind of ironic that one of the shortcomings, IMHO, of the Renegade is its speed control up/down buttons. The buttons are shiny chrome and very poorly marked. If it's on slow speed, and you feel the vacuum getting uncomfortably high, it's all-to-easy to hit the button that increases speed instead of stopping - I've done this myself ... and I'm a very experienced pumper. That being said, the Renegade may not be a best pump for first-timers. This one, which is manually operated AND has a gauge, would be a better choice (and it costs only $45):
Essential Comfort Cock Pump with Gauge
In the beginning, you may experience a little discomfort at 5 mm Hg, but most guys eventually end up tolerating (and enjoying) 15 or even 20 mm Hg. I've never heard of anything but very minor bruising (small capillary bursts) at vacuums up to 20 mm Hg. But, as always, pain is your best guide!

One of my pumps is a Renegade and it did take some time to get used to it. After I got used to it I like it because I can easily cycle the pressure. Here are some suggestions to help you get started...

This is a very conservative way to start so that you get used to using the pump while minimizing the chance of overdoing it. If at any time you feel pain STOP IMMEDIATELY. Recognize that gains require patience and cannot be achieved quickly.
  1. Lube up then hold down the top button to open the escape valve so you can enter the tube (you should not be at 100% hardness, ~75% is good)
  2. After you are inserted set the pump on its lowest setting by clicking the bottom button once
  3. Feel the suction to the point it starts to get somewhat strong (NEVER to the point it is painful or even super uncomfortable)
  4. Then tap the top button once or twice to let some pressure escape but keep the pump running on the lowest setting the entire time
  5. After lowering the pressure let it increase as in step 3 above (feel the pressure starting)
  6. Repeat step 4 (release some but not all of the pressure)
  7. Continue steps 3 through 6 for five minutes (cycling from low pressure to higher and then back again, over and over)
  8. Turn the pump off using the middle button and then release the pressure using the top button
  9. Exit the tube and massage to allow good blood flow for several minutes
  10. To start with do no more than three cycles like this (total 15 min in the tube). Maybe only one or two 5 min cycles at first is alright until you get used to it. Build up slowly by listening to your body and don't overdo it at first.
To help with any anxiety you just need to remember one thing - top button = escape. Hit the top button at any time and the pressure will release faster than the pump can create it.

You mentioned you have trouble keeping track of time. I suggest you get a cheap 5 minute hourglass (egg timer) to keep track of time. No moving parts, easy to read and simple. Make sure it is plastic and not glass - you will have lube on your hands and you will drop it at some point.

Have fun and be safe!

Thanks! I think I'll try this one. I guess I'm realizing that I've also never even used a cock ring before so all of this is very very new. I have a lot to get used to. I just really really don't want to break anything .

Any damage to your cock while pumping is unacceptable. That includes bruising, but worse is blistering, which will put you out of the pump game until it heals... and who wants to suck a blistered dick?

Most guys won't get above 7 hg much less 20 hg especially young guys. Unless you are 60+ and have a dead penis, no way you are tolerating a true 7+ hg reading.

I keep the psi at about 10, but I'll go up to 15 to 20 for a minute to see myself get up to and sometimes above 7 inches. Of course that's after I've been pumping for 30 minutes.
