We had a rough start, but we’re strong! March 16th, 2020. Our baby’s born and I‘m the happiest man alive ♥️ At that moment I can’t feel more grateful and life gets a much bigger meaning to me..
But #Noah is 7 weeks early and born when novel #coronavirus starts spreading in #Austria, and in the world.. with exponential increase. I get to see my son for a couple minutes post birth. After that he‘s being taken to intensive care unit because he came so early - as a preemie he needs to be monitored 24/7 and supported with breathing and feeding. But he‘s a tough boy (he’s daddy’s boy), and I know he’ll be good! Only thing that bothered me is that I couldn’t visit due to the circumstances. I stayed at the hospital and supported my love @annapaille however I could.
The next day new regulations by the government made it possible for me to see him! I washed my hands like 10 times before entering his room, we kangaroo-d a couple hours and I was so happy we could be together and I could make sure he‘s ok. He‘s been given breast milk through a feeding tube,.. and he‘s just the cutest little thing on earth! ♥️
Unfortunately the next day things changed again, back to restrictions, back to dad-not-seeing-his-boy. I had to leave the hospital, I’m glad Anna could stay but as I knew that I wasn’t able to see him for the next couple weeks I was brought to tears. I understand hospitals need high preventive measures during this time. It was hard for me to accept and leave, partly because I stayed inside that hospital all the time so I won’t possibly get infected.
Long story short: Sometimes life challenges you, and you need to stay strong! Everyone is thinking about the #virus , I‘m only thinking about my #family . The hospital staff have their regulations, and that’s great and important these days. In my situation it was just really hard to accept those rules. But.. chin up! I‘m happy my son is healthy (and can make a lot of noise already) and I‘m thankful to all the nurses midwives and doctors from the KFJ hospital in #Vienna taking care of my child. I can’t describe how much I love my family! Sending love to all families out there #staysafe ♥️ #WeAreOne #prouddad
