The growing number of guys embarrassed about their bodies to the point they change under a towel in the locker room is insane. I even got griped at once because I wasn't covered up, but I put the guy in his place, all while my fat cock swung freely between my thighs. I attribute this increase to two factors. First, the conservatism in my area of the USA (southeastern Bible Belt), where the Bible wavers all rave about how were are made in God's image, but then start clutching their pearls if you dare show any skin or anything that might be construed as sexual, which the naked body always is for these poor sexually repressed people. They are raised--brainwashed--into this logic bereft belief that sex is sinful and they should be ashamed of their bodies and feel guilty they have a libido. No wonder the region suffers from drug abuse and chronic disease more than any other region of the USA (It's also the largest consumer of internet porn). The second factor is the single parent syndrome. For centuries, women had all this chaste, pure, cover up crap pushed on them, to the point is part and parcel of their growing up, wherever they are in America. Single mothers have pushed those values back on to the young males they are raising, whose gender first pushed it on women and the boys are growing up with the same trained bashfulness that women have been raised with for centuries. In a way, males are now suffering as they have made women, but sadly, it is damaging to the human psyche to be overrun with such shame about one's own body. I show mine freely, openly and often in hopes other males will catch on and show some pride in themselves.

i am a bit of an exhibitionist, i walk around the locker room with a towel over my shoulders not my waist and i agree that guys who try to hide it are the odd man out
Same here. I've been using open shower gyms for years. Since everyone can see my penis in the shower anyway, it would seem a bit silly to cover it up on the locker-to-shower walk.

Showers are open again at my place. And still nobody will talk, it’s kinda insane when I realise I started this gym in January and since then outside my PT and some other staff I’ve only spoken to like 2 other people here. Granted corona had an effect but still it’d be nice to just talk to some of the others here, get to know some of them more

I'm not an exhibitionist, but I always am more comfortable around other guys who aren't afraid of getting naked or aren't afraid of being seen naked. It's more of an intimate connection -- and not sexual.

Of course, someone could make it sexual --- but though I don't mind some eye candy - I'm not at the gym to get aroused.

Marcojock have not heard from you in a long time hope everything is ok

All is well. Thanks for checking in.

I’m still not traveling to my client in Miami and probably won’t through the end of 2020. Thankfully my team and I have been able to work remote and I’ve sold more work (which I’m excited about!). While it’s not ideal I’m grateful we’re all working through the current situation.

I miss working out with AG at the gym. We still connect for virtual workouts 2-3 times a week. It’s great to see him, chat with him and I like the motivation he brings to the workout. And I really miss hanging out with him naked in the locker room and steam room — both seeing his beautiful naked body just a couple of feet from me and the bonding friendship that seems to be created by the time we’re naked around each other. Other than a few little teases here and there nothing has happened since we dropped our gym shorts and showed off our hardons three months ago.

Thanks again for checking in. Hope all is well with you.

All is well here for the most part. I also have been working out since May, that is what made me read the health, fitness, and bodybuilding thread where I ran into you and AG. I enjoyed reading about your adventures with AG. I have not been to the gym since last Friday night have not felt that great and been tired but will go tomorrow after work 11:00pm. Did a bunch of stuff outside and worked mid nights over the weekend, think I just did to much. I forget that I am not as young as I once was. I am down about 27 lbs since May, would like to lose another 60. I have missed not going the last week. I plan on going Fri Sat Sun nights after I get off work, get back into the swing of things. Getting in shape is not easy for a 50 something old man, although I have been told round is a shape, just not one I wish to have anymore.

It is. Never experienced that, but I think it’s hot.

It sounds hot, and I guess it kinda was, but unless you wanted to be thought of as creepy -- you still practiced shower etiquette. That meant -- you didn't stare. You didn't directly face another showerer for long -- unless it was a friend and you were in conversation. You typically carried your towel to the showers -- pretty much holding in front of you so someone would have to really stare to see your junk. Then you would wear the towel on the way back -- and hang it over your locker while you dressed.

Even back in the 80s when lots of men went to the gym after work -- unless you lived in a city, the shower areas were never occupied by more than a handful of people at one time. Back then, though, most of us still wore dress clothes -- including a tie to work -- and you'd never consider getting dressed after a workout without showering. Only a small number of guys would come in already changed so they could avoid the locker room scene -- not like today's gyms where those who shower are in the minority.

I think it gets tougher for everyone as we get older. The trick is finding out what works for us as individuals — we’re all wired differently. You should feel very good about dropping 27 lbs! That’s awesome. While you’re still not at your goal you are a third of the way there and that’s a big accomplishment.

I used to work out after work also. That was when the gym was most social and in my younger days I liked that. (It was also pre-bashfulness days and before the towel dancers took over so there was always a lot of hot dick in the locker room.) As I got older I realized my energy level after a day of work wasn’t high enough for an effective workout. Also the stress of the day would be wearing on me. I started working out before work, when I have more energy and still own my day/ am in control of my day. This really worked for me and also set my mind and body up for a productive day. On days I couldn’t workout before work I’d work out over lunch. My general rule now is to not even attempt working out after 2PM — it just leads to an ineffective workout for me. I don’t know what your schedule is like; just something to think about.

It was the same in my day. Now. because of COVID, showers are closed at my gym, so I can't take a shower immediately after my workout, and I feel gross because of it. For a lot of the younger generation, it is perfectly normal for them to not take a shower after working out. I can't wait for the locker room showers to reopen next month. The steam room will still be closed, and there will be no towel service, but at least I can shower immediately after exercising. I'll never understand how anyone can choose not to shower after exercising. It's such a disgusting feeling not to do so.

Believe it or not, I am one of the modest gym goers. I go to a mid-range gym and I've met men way older than I am (late 40's & 50's). I never fully undress in front of any of them or any other man in the gym. This is weird because I usually wear a jockstrap or thong type underwear all the time, (even when not in the gym..I jusy love thongs and stuff like that) so in the gym locker room I go to a private area to change. Never get fully naked in front of the other guys.

My second week there, I walk into the locker room and there is this older white male butt-assed naked, after getting out of the shower, I see him standing there, airing out his balls in front of one of the fans, he then bends over and I get a full moon. This has happened at least 4 or so times and I glance and quickly look away. I dont even check out the other men who are naked in the locker room at all for more than a two seconds.

I have to blame that on my Biblical upbringing but it's ultimately me as person now & has been for most of my life. I never look at anyone's nakedness in public & don't want them looking at me, even if I have a toned body and nice body parts (to me).

I look, but don't stare.

I can empathize with the religious upbringing. There were many times over the years where I could have seen men I found attractive naked in the locker room, but consciously decided to not look. But as I matured, I realized it's silly to link admiring a naked body to sin -- and life is too short. It would be different if I was recording it or peeking through a window.

But everyone has to so what makes them comfortable. The primary purpose of going to a gym should always be fitness.
