i personally find that jockstraps cover all the bases. I can wear them anywhere and my ass looks good. But personally I’ve found that men tend to like the jock-thong more. I added a picture of me wearing them for reference

I always liked the squeeze of tight underwear. They used to make swimwear and brief underwear out of nylon that did not stretch. Then around your age I discovered flat-front gaff thongs like my avatar that I could wear at the beach as well. I have posted photos on this site.

I admit that I'm very much into underwear. I always try new stuff. But I'm pretty conservative when it comes to that and it has to be masculine. I'm gay and masculinity turns me on, what can I say. I've worn everything from FTL white briefs to traditional Bike jockstraps. These days however, my favourite underwear in very specifically the Eddie Bauer Trailcool 2.0 boxer briefs. Comfortable, light, easy to wash and dry, and they do enhance your junk in a natural-looking way without throwing everything in your face. Just don't try too hard with overly "sexy" underwear. Be confident and wear something you find comfortable and reasonably good-looking. I can't imagine a woman being impressed with some of the more silly stuff.

I personally say: just go commando. Makes your tackle look best when you take off your trousers, keeps things at their freshest and most healthy, too.
I can’t think of a singular cut of underwear that adds to a man’s allure and to be honest, most popular cuts look crap on most men (those tight things for instance look good on practically no-one)

Style is personal preference babe. I am majority a thong wearer, but a lot of guys love a man in a basic brief or jock. I love seeing hunky men in real tight or form-fitting briefs, but love thongs myself as I feel they frame my ass the best.
