Have not had the opportunity to take in Atlantis cruise yet. I understand that the ones outside the United States are the better ones. Would love to hear from some of you have been on one.

A couple of questions.
1. Can you go as a single and not feel like you’re a bump on a log. Will be easy to mingle and mix on the cruise.

2. do you have to bring enough stuff to be prepared for all of their theme parties.

3. Is it worth paying for the privacy the Atlantis cruise gives the gay Traveler.

4. if you’re an older gay traveler age 60 Will you fit in?

5. do I need to pack anything other than a Speedo.

this is a link to a good article I read about Atlantis cruises. I think the rider some set up pretty well.
But I would love to hear from people who have actually been on and explored the fun one could have one fun ship of fellow gay men.

I'll try to answer your questions and give my opinion
#1 - Yes to both, but remember you have to put yourself out there and mingle, approach others also. It's not a time to be shy. As long as you keep a friendly approachable demeanor you'll be surprised how many people will respond to a positive energy. The others are there to enjoy and leave inhibitions at home.
#2 - No, You know what theme events will be going on at booking so only the ones you might want to. You can still enjoy the festivities without costume.
#3 - If you want to try the experience. There are many pro/con to that question.
#4 - Yes. Mixed ages on the ship. Keep in mind at times you have to be tolerant of the younger set. And refer to #1 yellow_giggle.gif

#5 - Yes, sparkle eyelashes and cha cha heels. All kidding aside it's like a regular vacation. Casual clothes, a couple dress slacks and shirts. Just don't over pack.

The article is 90% accurate IMO but....If you can handle the crowded ship and occasional (more than not) "screaming queens" You'll probably enjoy it even if it's only to try it once.

I can co-sign @houtxhairy's comments. It also very much depends on which cruise you're going on. The Spring Caribbean cruise on one of the massive ships like Allure or Harmony (6000+ passengers) skew very young (mid/late 20s) and are very much like a circuit party on the high seas and don't really bother stopping at any major tourist sites. They're heavy on the drug use, orgies back in the cabin, some sex on the dance floor, and in recent years at least one death from one circumstance or another. The other cruises that hit up multiple interesting ports of call, such as the late Summer/Fall European cruises, or last year's Asia cruise, are smaller ships, a bit more mixed crowd, and while still a party atmosphere, because these tend to be longer and more expensive cruises with fewer days at sea and more noteworthy ports of call with good day-tours, etc., you tend to get a crowd that's there for more than just ecstasy and meth-fueled sex marathons.

1. Can you go as a single and not feel like you’re a bump on a log. Will be easy to mingle and mix on the cruise.
I’m 56 and my husband is 69. Our friends are in this range. We’ve done seven cruises in the last ten years; Atlantis, RSVP, BrandG.
I will assume a Mediterranean cruise. Like others have said, the Caribbean and Halloween cruises are younger and more of a “booze cruise” - though Puerto Rico is an older bunch.
Generally speaking, RSVP (owned by Atlantis) is an older crowd.
Being single is no issue except that you’ll be rooming with a stranger or paying a premium for your room.
That said, you can’t be a wallflower; get involved; smile; initiate conversation; have fun!

2. do you have to bring enough stuff to be prepared for all of their theme parties.
Simple answer, No. You can go as elaborate as you like or be simple. No one is going to shun you if you don’t show up in the perfect outfit. Pack your bag, then take half of it and leave it at home. Lol

3. Is it worth paying for the privacy the Atlantis cruise gives the gay Traveler.
By privacy I guess you mean it’s an all LGBTQ ship? And yes it is. We’ve done one cruise that was primarily straight (for the destination) and it was okay. Everyone treated us well but there’s nothing like the freedom of being the majority and where holding hands or kissing in public is ok. That said, the crew and staff are mostly straight so you have to be respectful.

4. if you’re an older gay traveler age 60 Will you fit in?
I’ve spoken with Rich about the advertising and told him I could get more of my friends on the cruises if there were some pics of us older guys. There are plenty of older guys.

5. do I need to pack anything other than a Speedo.
If you can wear a Speedo then you must have a nice body and will have no issues fitting in. I assume you will go on excursions. Many churches that you visit want your knees covered and a tank top is inappropriate. I have pants that allow the bottom legs to zip off. We take the quick drying golfing polos that can be found everywhere. They can easily be washed in the sink and hung to dry for multiple days of use. Your local cleaners can clean and package a dress shirt but irons are in the rooms to clean up wrinkles yourself.

Responses above. The actual destination may change some answers. We’re doing a Schooner cruise with BrandG this year in the south of France.
Feel free to contact me directly if I can clarify anything - Lane.

Will it ever be safe again to go cruising?
I sure hope so. My husband has already been vaccinated and I will be in the next group. We've been looking at fall 2021 trips on the BrandG site. We are currently planning a Florida beach holiday for July 4, assuming vaccinations go as we are hoping.

The idea of sex fueled marathons stops me from booking.

I like a nice cruise with gay dudes, making friends, have a great holiday but not an unstoppable meat market in a frantic search for sex.

I've been on Atlantis, RSVP and BrandG cruises. I've never experienced the feeling of a frantic search for sex. Admittedly I've been with my husband and haven't been looking for sex. I've been in many areas of the ships without my husband and while there has been occasional flirting it was nothing more than you would receive at a gay bar. I enjoy walking as exercise and walk a few laps around the ship each morning. No one chased me around or tried to molest me.

I've had candid conversations with Rich (Atlantis CEO) regarding the ads they put out. I told him that I could get more of my older gay friends to come along if he would show some normal looking guys in the ads. He said no one wants to see a bunch of regular looking guys on a vacation ad. However, if you look at RSVP or BrandG you will see us average guys. Destination is also paramount in the type of guys who will be on the ship. We don't do the party trips on Halloween or in the Caribbean. I know that the Puerto Rico trip is a good one for "regular" guys.

We are early risers so we catch the first show and then typically go to bed. We're not dancing the night away in the discos or hanging out in the bars that are found all over these boats. I can't speak to what goes on in these places. With Atlantis they have a dog tag part where you put a dot on your tag with your level of openness to activity. If you chose to wear that tag the rest of the trip while out and about it would make your availability easily known.

I would highly recommend a BrandG cruise. You won't find a better group of guys on the planet. If you'd like to speak with me offline about more specifics I'm happy to do that; we've done three trips with them. We were scheduled for the Clipper Ship sailing last September which was of course cancelled due to Covid. We're now looking at Fall 2021 trips. Go to The Leader in LGBT River Cruises and Land Tours - Brand g Vacations for information.

We've done two Atlantis cruises that left out of Amsterdam and included the Greek Isles so that may be something for your consideration if you want a large ship experience. BrandG trips and mostly small river boat trips with about 125 guys.

My partner and I cruise a lot with Norwegian. At first we didn't go to the LGBT meet up but now we do. We've met wonderful people, have remained friends with many of them. Some groups are more subdued than others. Our last cruise was a fun bunch with lots of laughs and some late nights. Great fun. The "group aged n range from 30ish to 75. the average was probably 50 or so. It was quite enough fun and fabulousness for me. Have met and remained friends with lots of straight people met on cruises' too. Hoping to get back on the ships by the fall.

Thanks for the extensive reply. The bronze tanned masculine gods in speedos which feature in Atlantis advertorials were putting me on the wrong track.

I have experienced cruises in the Eastern Mediterranean on traditional Turkish gület sail boats. No more than 5 x 2 men in the huts below and then the Captain and an assistant whom also prepares breakfast and diner. Just enjoy sunbaths in the nude, have a small family feel aboard and sail to ancient Greek, Roman and Ottoman places.

Now you have described your experiences, I will go for the BrandG Cruises when the Pandemic is under control.

how are they able to get drugs on the ship?

The process of boarding the ship does not involve much more than you get in terms of security at your average airport. They're looking for weapons or large amounts of alcohol (not illegal, just cuts into their profits). A half-dozen ecstasy tablets or some crystal meth in a baggy tucked into the lining of a suitcase or into your shoe is not going to get caught usually.

Like most cruise, even on land - in a public toilet or a park. If you’re young + hot. You’ll get both holes blown out by all the cocks you can handle.

Would love to hear from anybody who’s been on any Atlantis cruises during 2024. I know they’ve had some great ones and would love to hear people’s experiences. I understand those young and old. Would love to hear from some of the older Atlantis cruisers.

A couple of questions.
1. Can you go as a single and not feel like you’re a bump on a log. Will be easy to mingle and mix on the cruise. Honestly yes. It's going to be awkward until you hit you're speed but it's all pretty friendly

2. do you have to bring enough stuff to be prepared for all of their theme parties. Not at all. More fun when you do but it's all up to you to decide what you're going to join

3. Is it worth paying for the privacy the Atlantis cruise gives the gay Traveler.. en not sure about this. Most people are out and about so depends

4. if you’re an older gay traveler age 60 Will you fit in? I think so. I did my cruises when I was in my 20s and 30s. Had a partner at the time(really trying to be open minded and not mad at his antics) but in my own opinions and expierences. When I was allowed/able to go out and explore meeting just anyone who wanted to chat rather than run to the top deck was pretty awesome

5. do I need to pack anything other than a Speedo. Nope. Bring it all and show it all

LOL, Rich Campbell . . Rice Queen desperate to come off as being 32. As for the brochures, the Mexico and Caribbean drug tug bathhouse OF/pron shoot cruises always sell out, the Euro cruises, seldom sellout, he knows who is clientele is and what they are looking for and willing to spend. Norwegian Cruises discontinued being a charter, something about the crew witnessing all the sex going on in the public spaces and OD/fatalities that Campbell keeps very very quiet.

Being in my mid-thirties at this point I enjoy the March cruise usually. It is a mix of young and older guys. It's a little more subdued than the Jan/Feb cruise on the big ship (a much younger crowd and LOTS of drugs) and when I took a Mexican cruise once LOTS of drugs there also, more so than other cruises. You won't know until to try, but if you want my recommendation, I'd start with the March cruise. It's a better mix in my opinion. Parties at night are still are lot of fun, and easier to make friendships because there is less attitude. If you want sex, normally easy to find. If you don't it's easy to avoid as well. Good luck.
