NewYorkTimes.com:
Opinion | Only the Incompetent Need Apply
By Paul Krugman - Opinion Columnist

I wrote a few days ago about how ignorance — ignorance about history, about science, about economics and more — has become a core conservative value. This exaltation of ignorance naturally goes hand in hand with disdain for expertise: A vast majority of scientists may agree that greenhouse gas emissions are warming the planet, but hey, it’s all just a gigantic hoax.

But wait, there’s more. On the right, expertise isn’t just considered worthless, it’s viewed as disqualifying. People with actual knowledge of a policy area — certainly those with any kind of professional reputation — are often excluded from any role in shaping policy. Preference is given to the incompetent — often the luridly incompetent.

I’m currently readingNightmare Scenario,” an account by Yasmeen Abutaleb and Damian Paletta of the Trump administration’s catastrophic mishandling of the coronavirus pandemic. Much of what they report falls into the category of “shocking but not surprising.” One thing I didn’t know about, however, was the special destructive role played by Stephen Moore, an outside economic adviser.

It was Moore, the authors report, who walked into Donald Trump’s office just days after America went into lockdown to urge reopening by Easter. While an immediate lifting of pandemic restrictions didn’t happen, Trump’s growing insistence that the pandemic was no big deal helped inspire armed protests against social distancing and mask-wearing, and it contributed to a public health disaster that has so far claimed 600,000 American lives — with 95 percent of the deaths happening after Easter 2020.

It goes without saying that Moore isn’t an expert on epidemiology. But he isn’t an expert on economics, either. In fact, he has a reputation among many economists for being wrong about almost everything. I don’t mean that he has made some bad forecasts — that happens to everyone (although some of us admit it when we were wrong and try to learn from our mistakes). I mean it is unusual for him ever to get the facts right, or even manage to land in the remote vicinity of the truth.

For example, in 2014 Moore published an attack on yours truly over the effects of state tax cuts in which every key number was incorrect. And not slightly off: He made claims about job growth for certain years but offered numbers from different years, and got even those numbers wildly wrong.

Another example: In 2015 he wrote an attack on Obamacare in which every main factual assertion was wrong.

Yet in right-wing circles Moore has failed steadily upward, serving as a member of The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board, becoming chief economist at the Heritage Foundation, and more. Trump tried to appoint him to the Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors and might have succeeded if Moore hadn’t been found in contempt of court for failure to pay alimony and child support.

And there he was, at a crucial moment in the pandemic, urging Trump to downplay the medical emergency and endanger American lives.

Continuing with another self-serving entitled idiot of the GQP…

HuffPost.com:

After losing repeated court battles in his fight against those who lost loved ones in the Sandy Hook school shooting, conspiracy theorist Alex Jones is using a new legal tactic: blaming Hillary Clinton.

In a Thursday court filing, a lawyer for Jones asked a Connecticut court to begin the process of issuing a subpoena to obtain records and testimony from the former secretary of state and Democratic presidential nominee, baselessly arguing that it was she who organized the multiple families now suing Jones for defamation related to the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting.
...

The second loudest LOSER in Right-wing-Nut American political social media: Alex Jones. Following the Great Bloated Orange Liar.

Today's Republicans are just entertainers. They gin up their voters with some catchy one-liners instead of doing policy.

For example, none of the wall was built in the two years the GOP had a majority government. They just don't... do... stuff. Instead, they complain and entertain. They should rename themselves the "Anti-Democrat Party," because that's all they are.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the veritable PLETHORA of MAGA queens (meaning the extremists among them, including Candace Owens) who've (of late) bubbled up to the surface of the right winged fascist quagmire currently known as the Republican Party? ... each venting her own karenesque VENOM, directed at everyone and everything that doesn't quite FIT into their fantasy-world vision of what (and how) a perfect world should be (a.k.a. "it's not fair").

Oooh weee, what's up with that?

'MAGA Bride' candidate warns of 'civil war' in bid to unseat GOP incumbent who voted to impeach Trump

Michigan GOP congressional candidate Audra Johnson, who became known as the "MAGA bride" after appearing at her wedding reception in a Make America Great Again Dress in 2019, is warning of an impending "civil war" as she attempts to unseat a Republican incumbent who voted to impeach president Donald Trump for inciting the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.

"We're heading toward a civil war, if we're not already in a cold civil war," Johnson told the New York Times, for a story published Thursday detailing how two GOP incumbents in Michigan "face a backlash from Republican voters who are enraged by what they allege are an effort by the F.B.I. to hunt down peaceful protesters, a news media silencing conservative voices, a governor who has taken away their livelihoods with overzealous pandemic restrictions and a Democratic secretary of state who has stolen their votes."

Johnson, who is challenging Congressman Peter Meijer in the 2022 GOP primary, attended the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection but claims she did not go inside the Capitol. However, she "knew people who knew people who did."

MEANWHILE, queen b(ee) Marjorie Taylor Greene NEIGHS IN again:

GOP Women’s Group Blasts Greene and Boebert: ‘Carnival Barkers’

A fundraising group for Republican women announced on Wednesday that it will not endorse Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene (R., Ga.) and Lauren Boebert (R., Colo.) in the 2022 midterms, likening the congresswomen to “carnival barkers.”

The Value in Electing Women (VIEW) PAC, which has worked since 1997 to increase the number of Republican women in Congress, criticized the actions of both congresswomen in an interview with Business Insider.

“While we rightfully celebrate the number of GOP women serving in the House, I’ve always professed quality over quantity,” VIEW PAC executive director Julie Conway told the outlet.

She said being in Congress is not a “joke” or “reality show.”

Latest and most laughable attempt for reverence from Blackburn, who was dubbed by Swift as Trump in a wig.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn Steps Up Feud With Taylor Swift: ‘First Victim’ of Marxist Government
The intellectual disconnect required for Blackburn to cast progressives as authoritarians who would silence Taylor Swift is just STUNNING.
What would we ‘silence’? Her criticisms of hard right idiocy? Her female empowerment anthems? Her ‘has a vagina but isn’t using it to poop out straight, ‘Christian’ babies’ self?

We ALL know that the authoritarians who would silence an ‘uppity’ woman like Swift are the men that women like Blackburn prop up as holy men and saintly heroes for hating the right people and telling the same lies that they believe, themselves…

I swear to god, modern conservatism is just the laziest, most intellectually bankrupt form of bigotry that has ever been thought up…

Another one of the deplorables to add
Alabama city leader won't quit after using racial slur
Ah, but if it was outside, he would have a different tune then. Deep down, this old racist is a coward. One more Trump wannabe to the list of wannabes. Join the ranks MTG and Gaetz. They need another snowflake to add.
