My wrist has been in pain whenever I try to press or curl. Even chins ups aggravate it a bit. I'm thinking it's a sprain? I haven't been able to lift in weeks and it's getting really bothersome. How long does it take for this to heal?
A sprained wrist usually hurts so much you can't even make a fist, let alone take hold of a barbell or chin up bar. Last time I had one it took almost two months to heal. I concentrated on core and legs and cardio while I waited to lift again. Sounds like you have a strain or maybe tendonitis from repetitive motion. Rest it until it feels better then rest it another month. If you feel numbness or tingling in your thumb & forefinger or the top of you hand it could be carpel tunnel.
I agree. Take a few weeks off. I found if I locked my wrist in one position that it helped, lighter weights and focusing on locking it was the key. Elbow was the same thing. All about form.
Thanks for the replies fellas. Big help for real. I'm guessing it must be a strain or tendonitis then.
I've taken off close to a month now if not more. I feel like I'm losing gains, so I'm wanting to get back asap. It's driving me crazy not being able to work out. There's still slight pain in my wrist, but I'm gonna wrap it, and see how it goes. Start off light, and hopefully I'll be back to normal.
