On advice of someone who answered my previous post (humble in the lockerroom found here) I picked up a bottle of yohimbe, because it has been used for years across many cultures to increase blood flow. Increased blood flow---- equals a low hang- at least that's the idea.

I took one pill this morning with a banana, and then I had a coffee from Starbucks. With lunch (early) at 11.00 am, I was pretty nauseated and didn't really eat my lunch- I kept my sandwich to eat later in the afternoon if my appetite returned (It didn't.) Instead, I was kinda sick to my stomach all afternoon at work.

I didn't eat any dinner prior to working out at the health club, and I popped one more pill prior to walking in the door. The bottle says "take one 30 minutes prior to 'activity,' you know- like it's some sort of aphrodisiac." My workout wasn't really impeded by my stomach or my energy level (because you get in the groove on the treadmill and everything goes away... and then breaking down the muscles on the machines is it's own physical distraction...)

Once I got to the showers I was definately feeling some level of elevated sex drive- I don't think it was all in my head- and my crotch was responding. Whenever I soaped up my sac, I felt everything a lot more and I was looking a bit more 'full' than normal- however, I was still a bit uneven on the stomach wellness thing- so my ability/tolerance to sit in a hot steam room/ sauna/ whirlpool was shortened, even if my dick wasn't LOL :)

For those of you that feel that I am "obsessing", please realize that I'm just writing up a thread on this board like everyone else :) We all enjoy reading these posts and having open conversation about things that most guys don't have the stones to discuss in an open forum- you know, without drinking about 10 beers!!! I'm not obsessing, I'm just looking for feedback from some of my fellow brothers on the board who have walked in my shoes- and trying to find something that will work for *me* and my lifestyle.

So the question is- are there any other Yohimbe users out there, and did you have to build up a 'tolerance' to it at all when you started taking it? Did it make you sick to your stomach at all, or take away your appetite? Do you take it only on occasion, or do you keep it circulating in your system on a regular basis to be effective? Any other supplement (eg Horny Goat Weed) that you felt was a better or less expensive alternative?

I haven't had dinner yet since I got home from working out, and I've actually still got a bit of an upset stomach (thus not much of an appetite) and I'm a bit jittery (possible reaction between yohimbe and caffeine in the coke I drank on the way home.) I feel a bit nauseated- but no fever.

If it's always like this, I'd probably choose to skip it- it's not worth the benefit... but I do feel like the blood flow has been revved up so i'm kinda looking forward to taking some personal time to JO in a bit !

I've tlked to guys on Thunders n stuff - Yohimbe can be bad for you, elevated bl. pressure all that bad crap.

Ginkgo is great b/c dont have to cycle it, doesnt hurt bl. pressure (like makin u dizzy or nervous) n helps your mind too.

Im planning on picking up some later this week.

hey buddy,
i respect your thread and agree that most guys don't talk enough about this kind of stuff. i once read up on the yohimbe and i got a bad vibe. mayo clinic even states that no herb or pill can enlarge. i wanted it to help increase drive, cuase i'm 47 and i'm just not as stiff as it once was. but when i read about the side effects of yo, i ditched the idea. check out side effects on google...and good luck. for what it's worth, my balls hand super low and it sometimes drives me fuckin nuts. you're fine.

update.

I went to go drain the weasel, and my yellow gold smelled a bit like an italian restaurant. Spicy not good when squeezing the bladder balloon. So the writing was on the wall.

I was so jittery and nauseated, that all it took was one well placed finger to activate the old gag reflex and I emptied my entire system into the porcelain throne. Remember, I basically had an empty stomach all day- so I took a bottle of water along to keep the dry heaving down to a minimum. Keep that trick in mind, sports fans- because on an empty stomach you can feel those muscles contracting and pulling all the way down your inside track right down to your butt hole. It ain't pretty. Hurts, actually.

The jitters are gone, and my stomach ache is going away. I'll have appetite in a bit- (it will need to be bland) and the lube bottle will remain untouched for another day :)

So i don't think I'll be using the Y again. Thanks for the feedback so far, but I think it's a valid topic for the board- so I still want to hear from other guys about what they naturally might use to keep the cardiovascular system pumping :biggrin1:

I have used yohimbe with great results. Before viagra, it was actually widely used by impotency clinics, but of course after Viagra and other prescription drugs, it stating getting some "bad press" by the medical community.

As it has stimulating effects, taking it with coffee shortly thereafter was not a good thing nor taking it on an empty stomach. Herbs can be very powerful in their effects and therefore are best taken along with a full meal.

I find the yohimbe works best when synergistically combined with other herbs as found in Male Response by Source Naturals.

i have used yohimbine before as a fat burner and a sex aid. worked well for both. for nausea i would suggest spreading your dosage out. i took about 25mg a day of it spread into 5mg doses.

An alternative to Y is L-Arginine. i take about 15mg a day of the HCL type and get big loads as well as a fuller thicker errection. you don't get any of the jittery fat loss effects that come from Y

I've used Yohimbe on-and-off for years ("off" for quite some time now). Here are some things you should know if you want to use it:

It is on the FDA list of "unsafe herbs." As has been noted, it is associated with raised blood pressure, and "racing heart" syndrome. It can cause heart damage. There are even a few fatalities that have been attributed to the use of this herb/drug. People with heart trouble or other serious health issues should stay far, far away.

Yohimbe strongly reacts with a substantial number of foods. Taking Y in combination with them will lead to bad outcomes.

These include preserved foods of any kind, and alcohol. Avoid any food or drink that is pickled, or aged, including cheese and lunch meats (beer and wine are both aged as well). If you do some diligent web searching, you can find complete lists of foods to avoid, and the chemistry of the interaction, for those who are interested in such things.

Drinking coffee with it sounds like a really bad idea. I wouldn't even consider trying that. Combining Y with one or more of the "forbidden" substances can make you feel really, really sick.

OK, that's the bad news. Things improve when you learn how to use it.

So, what should you eat with Y? I try to stick with fresh fruits and vegetables (salads!), freshly cooked meat (chicken mostly) in smaller quantities than usual, and especially oranges (for some reason, I've found them helpful when consuming Y), and drink mostly water. With this diet I find tolerating Y is a lot easier. I start the dietary restrictions at least a several hours before taking a Y dose.

About an hour after taking a dose, the effects start kicking in. Tingling in the spine is first. Later there are jitters, and skin flushing. Y is psychoactive, and makes concentrating on mental chores more difficult. It makes sleeping difficult. For this reason, I prefer taking it in the afternoon, so effects are available in the evening, and I stand a chance of sleeping that night.

If you get through all this, you may be rewarded with a sex drive boost that is nothing short of remarkable. The most intense orgasms of my life have been while using Y. If you are suffering from severe side effects, you probably won't be able to overcome them enough to enjoy the ride.

Quite a bit of the yohimbe sold in the U.S. is inactive. Let's just say that quality control among herb manufacturers is not pharmaceutical grade. It's pretty much a crap shoot on quality and dosing.

I rapidly build a tolerance to Y. Unfortunately, one of the first casualities of my tolerance is the desired libido increase. Taking it once a month or less was the only solution that seemed to work for me.

Y is marketed as an "energy boost" for working out. I find this marketing tactic somewhere in the gray area between irresponsible and criminal.

Now for the really interesting part. In my experience, Y seems to combine synergistically with Viagra. I did not notice any bad interactions between these two substances. They work using different mechanisms. If you try this, make sure your calendar is clear, and your partner is ready for a marathon.

I hope this helps someone.

I have been using a product from Natural Balance called DHEA Super hormone for men for a while now. It certainly helps the libido. It contains a proprietary blend of Guarana, Yohimbe, Catauba, Korean Ginseng, Horny Goat Weed, Muira Puama and 25 mg of DHEA. I take it along with a little food as I find it can upset the stomach, but only a little. It certainly gives you energy and I have found that it stimlates hair growth on the body. I love hairy bodies so, it works for me.

I'd stay away from yohimbe... especially if you're mixing it with caffeine. Yohimbe alone, in small doses (I'm 6'1" at about 165, so small amounts shouldn't effect me this much) gives me the shakes and causes my heart to beat hard and fast. Almost as if I had been running.

Yohimbe Bark or Yohimbine must be taken AFTER you eat, it wreaks HAVOC on an empty or slightly empty stomach, plus you will need to find a reputable brand... there are TONS of fly by hight supplement manufacturers that produce a sub-par product with little to no standardization. Look for the standardized Yohimbine extract from a company that has been around a while like Twinlab, Schiff or even the Vitamin Shoppe generic brand, try to stay out of the "men's performance" section of GNC, it is full of sub-standard products that can make one VERY ill.

You might have not had a bad reaction to Yohimbe Bark per say... but a reaction to a poorly manufactured product.

watch dhea intake, some doctors recommend no more than 5 mg a day. I took the 25 mg, twice a day per the bottle instructions. had some strange heart palpitations the second day and from then on the rest of the week I took just one 25 mg. I am 55 yo, and work out with light weights(not beer bottles) and noticed some more bulk on my frame, and in sex situations with my wife, my cock got harder quicker and stayed harder than it has in a couple of years. I was also getting slight pains in either side, near the kidneys, so I quit taking it. this stuff can be pretty dangerous.
