I'd re-evaluate the whole top/bottom dynamic with every long term sexual partner just to see what's on offer and how we click.

This would of course depend on why various attempts at trying the other roles had failed. For example if someone was an exclusive top, purely because it had hurt whenever they'd tried to bottom, then they really do need to try again till it doesn't hurt. If you've managed to have pain free anal sex, and have experienced the pleasures that it's supposed to be able to give, but didn't really get it then that's fair enough. Although I would hasten to add that a different dick and technique could change your mind on that.
