By "Indy", is that a typo for "Indian"? If so, of course you can say Indian. He's of a English/British man of Indian decent, as in his ancestors were from India.
Whether or not it's appropriate to refer to Native Americans as Indian is another (more debated) matter, and not relevant to Dev Patel, but maybe that's what you're think of?

his parents are of indian descent. india is part of asia.
I think the point is, he's from England. His parents are from Kenya.
dev is ethnically indian with a british nationality. his parents being from kenya does not change the fact that they're also ethnically indian...which makes the three of them asian.

my family german english welsh irish scottish chinese swiss MAYBE french and portaguses! Maybe I dont know if I am black dont think so
