I think AI will eventually replace porn models to some extent for those who truly don't need there to be a real, living person as a target of their parasocial relationship. But I don't that the porn industry is even in charge of steering the ship here in 2024, much less in the future when AI is even more ubiquitous and AI character generation consistency is easier to do.
As of the birth of Fansites, the steering wheel is no longer in major porn studios hands. This trend will continue on with AI, as we have seen with certain OF accounts using an AI personality to rake in tons of cash in 2023. Rather than focusing on a specific IRL star under a studio contract, AI stars will be created by the random AI content creators who are already putting out content today. They will develop their own styles, and their AI generations will be based on their own tastes and trained models developed from those tastes.
IRL Fansite creators and porn studios will still hold a major portion of the market as long as AI is unable to provide realistic and immersive video experiences to go along with those still images. In terms of societal changes, eventually we will reach a point where it doesn't matter whether the subject of the porn is real or not, probably in around 15 years. There will be a new wave of highly impressionable late Gen Alpha tweens and teens whose first attractions are going to involve AI generated porn pics rather than influencers, and from that will be birthed all-new unrealistic fetishes, kinks, and aspirational beauty standards that are going to drive the market in the late 2030s. If it turns out anything like how late 90s/early 00s Bratz dolls warped the minds of newly adulted people in the 2010s, we are likely fucked. I can totally see some 22 year old trying to get surgery to achieve a 14-pack because he grew up idolizing an AI with an inhuman number of abs on an impossibly broad but skinny frame with a size 42 chest and a size 24 waist.
As far as the influence on Gay culture, one of AI's major failures is that it's often not able to generate a multi-person image with giving the guys the same face -- as if they were twins, brothers, or otherwise related. So in this instance you'd have to ask which came first, AI guys all looking the same, or Gay guys only surrounding themselves with hot doppelbanger clones who look exactly like them?
