It most certainly does. No one can force anyone to accept an identity, true. However, if one willfully engages in homosexual activity, they aren’t exclusively heterosexual. Just as those who engage repeatedly in drugs, or gambling to excess, or non moderated alcohol consumption to the detriment of their wellbeing are addicts. Sometimes, the decision gets made for you based upon your behaviors. What a person chooses to accept is wholly different. This still doesn’t alter the reality. Sexuality is a complex spectrum. Identities are sociological constructs.
You are conflating two separate terms. Sexual identity and sexual orientation. Orientations about behavior. What is your sexual behavior oriented towards? Are you oriented towards sleeping with men, women, trans, or various gender presentations. It’s even evident in the name “orientation.” What does orientation denote? The determination of the relative position of something or someone (especially oneself). Sexual identity is jut that, how one identifies to themselves and to the world. One is a function of behavior and the other is a function of identification.
I don't really agree with this. Orientation is about your hardwired attractions. Not your "behavior". Your identity/label, on that part you're mostly correct. It's just a means of identification.
Whether you like it or not, sexual orientation has a behavioral component. It’s is in part an inventory/assessment of what you are drawn to sexually. Men who are drawn to sex with other men, and are attracted to other men sexually, are orientated sexually towards men. If they’re equally drawn to men and women, then they are bisexual. Whether they adopt that as an identity or not is separate. The behavior comes into play as a means of qualifying the orientation sexually. If/when there is a misalignment between how the person consistently behaves versus their identity, there’s an identity misalignment. Behavior is a huge component in terms of defining a persons sexual orientation. You can’t have an assessment of how one is orientated without the behavioral component. To not have sexual desires and or to not act on innate desires would mean a person is asexual.
