Alex Kent (@thebigkent) - English bodybuilder

He likes to complain about all the attention he gets from gay men but he obviously loves it. He encourages it far more than 90% of influencers with the stuff he posts and constantly talking about while doing like daily Q&As. He's just a weirdo

how does he encourage it? don't all bodybuilders post their bodies? this is very much like men who say women deserve to be harassed when they wear revealing clothes...

I follow many straight bodybuilders on Instagram (and some gay ones) and have for many years. He shows much more skin, much more often, than the vast majority of them. Go look at his content mix vs like Rafael Brandao. Rafaels is more a mix of product/competition promotion, clips of PRs, nutrition, etc while just a few posts are pure posing updates in posers. That's reversed with Alex, majority of his posts are just him flexing in underwear. And I'm happy for that part, he just should stop the fake complaining.

And for another thing while most bodybuilders who don't want to interact with gay men just don't respond to them or even sometimes block for that, he spends all day responding to each one and constantly talking about it. "Oh this guy has just asked me to be my cash slave for the third time I'm so annoyed." Then block him if it's bothering you!

He's been saying well over a year the DMs from gay men make him not want to post that kind of content anymore. But he's not blocking them and hasn't slowed down at all.

lmao you're comparing him to Rafael who has over 1.3 million followers... obviously he doesnt have the pull to rely on sponsorships as much and PR and competitions as Rafael... he only has 33k followers.

Also most other bodybuilders don't do Q&As as often/extensive as him... i've always gotten the impression he's just having banter/he's not really terribly upset by the thirsty comments... also the cash slave guy asks anonymously so he can't block him

This part is what I'm getting at. I think the complaints are completely fake and thus totally unnecessary. More than most other bodybuilders I follow his account is just dedication to showing off, more than tracking progress or talking about the sport generally or trying to grow his brand etc. And I think he focuses that kind of content because he really enjoys the reponse (yes from primarily gay men), otherwise he would stop. He already does it more than is typical. He should just openly embrace it and stop acting like all the comments are plaguing him when they are his goal.

I think it's also important to remember that Alex is from the UK. The country of origin for a bodybuilder is hugely important and determines whether they are 1) homophobic 2) able to show skin 3) how they interact with others on social media.
Bit of a tangent here, but I'm curious about this. Would you say it would be more acceptable for a BBer from the US than UK? If so, why?
