I also, made a new thread where I am collecting only high resolution photos.

Channing Tatum is a shit actor - hes only got acting work because of his looks - hes a model that got lucky , a chancer .
Channing had so much pull in Hollywood at one time that he almost ruined Alex's career. Alex has truly never recovered. I was hoping he would but he wasn't the strongest actor. He's still young though.

I wonder what "really" happened between the two? Maybe Alex refused his advances lol.

It's fairly simple

Alex Pettyfer was under the impression he was the star of Magic Mike. This was because before it was Magic Mike, when it was still untitled Steven Soderbergh male stripper film, Alex Pettyfer was the star of Magic Mike. Read the publicly downloaded shooting script. The movie was about Alex's character The Kid, because the movie was based on Channing Tatum's experience. Channing Tatum was The Kid. Magic Mike was based on somebody else who also very loudly complained about Channing Tatum fucking him over.

Almost half the movie was cut out to refocus the story on Channing Tatum's character. They got Elvis's goddamn granddaughter to play Pettyfer's love interest and her character was almost totally eliminated from the movie. Wendy McLendon-Covey's character was eliminated. Instead, they gave more screentime to actress Cody Horn. Do you know who Cody Horn is? The fact that her father ran Warner Bros. is irrelevant (he had left by the time it acquired Magic Mike.)

Cody Horn is Reid Carolin's girlfriend. Now wife. Reid Carolin was, and still is, Channing Tatum's producing partner and enabler. He wrote the screenplay, produced the film, and cast his girlfriend in the lead role. Before she was cast, they were circling Margot Robbie. Instead, they got the producer's girlfriend. Welcome to Hollywood.

So, anyway, Pettyfer gave a cock and bull story about falling out with Tatum because of past due rent, but more likely any schism was due to the fact that Pettyfer's storyline was hacked to pieces like Joan Crawford in the rose garden. Did you see Magic Mike in theaters? Everyone in my theater was shocked when the movie just ENDED. No resolution given to the Kid character. The movie was retconned in post to be a Channing Tatum starrer and Pettyfer, who is not the sturdiest crayon in the crayon box, most likely went apeshit.

Thank you so much. Very good write-up. Provides much context. Magic Mike was confusing as hell because I actually thought Alex's character was supposed to be the star and main focus of the movie. The fact that Alex's character was retcon from the franchise is just,I have no words, unbelievable.

Another note on Magic Mike 3. He also got rid of Thandie Newton. Salma replaced her.

Magic Mike 3 was just awful. He got rid of everyone lol.

Oh yeah I forgot about that! He fired Thandiwe.

He's pretty much Helen Lawson.

Here's a fun game

Why does the original theatrical poster for Magic Mike look like this? It's kind of weird and awkward looking, isn't it?

magic_mike.JPG

The answer is that Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello were not happy that most of their scenes were cut so they refused to promote the film unless they were given over the title billing and a prominent place on the poster. Because marketing saw how popular they were via social media mentions and the like, they were able to extract those concessions from Warner Bros.

Billing is usually something that is negotiated with the studio beforehand but because this went into production before its acquisition, it was not something that was forseen. Having most of their scenes cut was not something that was forseen either. (*James Marsden, who was the first choice for Matt Bomer's role, actually did forsee it which is why he turned the film down. Bomer's character is supposed to be nearing 40 as Marsden was.)

Adam Rodriguez and Kevin Nash did not play ball and simply chose not to promote the film that much.

So much tea with Magic Mike. I didn't know Channing and this franchise was so messy lol. He got lucky with the first, which did well, but the 2nd and 3rd were not as successful.
