Not sure if this is the correct forum, but a few months ago, Garrett Kinsley tweeted (and then deleted) that Helix was broke. He explained they had contacted him while he was on vacation to make his way to Las Vegas to shoot a few scenes on his own dime. He declined for several reasons, and put it out there that Helix was broke.
Quote: There's litterally no other reason why they'd let Kyle Ross, Max Carter, a long-standing editor, and others go than that. It's going [sic] broke.
Quote: They're just absolutely broke and cannot afford to pay their high rated models so they have to find new guys who will take 1/2 of what we cost. It's simple math for broke business owners! Need we talk about the scalping of 1/2 of their salaried employees?
This makes sense when you take a look at the last six months of Helix's releases... the majority of them are with the same models. And if I am not mistaken, these models all live in Las Vegas.
And Garrett may have been right about the real reasons why Kyle and Max left. Kyle stated in a tweet he was leaving to pursue other opportunities (which is very sad thinking he wasn't able to do) and Max stated he was moving on to explore other opportunities himself. Since Kyle worked as Operations Manager and was presumably aware of the financial situation on a daily basis, his leaving doesn't surprise me now that I think about Garrett's tweets.
As for Max... I always felt the story of his being fired simply because he cheated on Silas with Silas' twin brother Drake made no sense whatsoever.
Whatever the case, there is definitely something "rotten in Denmark". You can tell from the lack of originality in Helix's scenes, the lack of any new production in a few years, the same roster of models being used over and over and over again and the decisions of their models, past and present, to leave as quickly as they can.
