So, today's the day. Murray vs Federer for the Wimbledon title.
The omens are good. The last British winner of the singles was Fred Perry in 1936, at the Wimbledon following his 25th birthday in the previous May. Murray was 25 in May. He's beaten Federer before - but not for a while, never on grass and never in a Grand Slam final.
I'm still jubilant, though, after the brilliant Jonathan Marray (check him out - not bad for 31) brought home the doubles trophy last night, again the first time for a British player since 1936.
So:
Jamie Murray, Wimbledon Mixed Doubles Champion 2007
Jonny Marray, Wimbledon Men's Doubles Champion 2012
Andy Murray, ???????????????????????????????????????
There could be a shock but, either way, it's been another good shot in the arm for British tennis. Time for Oliver Golding, Liam Broady, Luke Bambridge and Kyle Edmund to take up the baton and get themselves into contention in the men's game.
