Armie hammer!

I have been listening to his podcast and he has mentioned Sniffies & Grindr. I know he is on there getting his dick sucked. What straight man knows Sniffies hahaha
A lot if you go by their self descriptions. LOL

If well orchestrated by a top notch creative PR agency then it can work in his favor. It would have to be a very scripted press tour to gain back his mainstream audience and not make him seem too much like a freak. I look forward to his comeback.
Uwe Boll movies are for tax write offs. There's not gonna be a press tour or budget for PR. 🤷‍♂️

Um no.. we don’t need nor want a sequel to that uncomfortable film.

I like both Armie and Timothee but I refused to watch "Call Me by your name" because it felt like a pedo film. Armie was miscast.
Nothing "pedo" about it at all. It's an intelligently written screenplay with top drawer actors in very fine performances, the father so compassionately insightful, he could serve as a parental role model. It is the best gay themed film I've seen in some years.

Arnie Hammer was completely misscast. In no shape or form does he look in his early 20s. Any discourse over a perceived large age gap is due to that. So I put less blame on people who get upset about it and more on the casting director.
The leads also had zero chemistry.
While I can agree that Hammer didn’t look early 20s, I also think age and appearance or how old someone looks is subjective. Think back to when you were a senior in high school. Did you ever look at the incoming freshmen and think “man they’re small” or “did I look that young when we were freshmen.” Im not saying that for some people he’ll pass as 24 only that based on the person, like myself for example I didn’t think he looked 24 but didn’t feel like he looked so much older that it took me out of the story like say had they cast Steve Martin or Robert Deniro. Also the way I see it, college while most attend immediately after high school there are many ages present after all people always point out to people who never went that it’s never too late to go.

For me, the story worked and Hammer and Chalamet again for me had amazing chemistry and I wasn’t watching thinking oh my god that dirty old man is corrupting that boy. I thought it was a beautiful love story. I get he looked older to you and that may have affected your ability to enjoy the movie and that’s unfortunate. I can also be objective a see that because I grew up and all the teenagers on tv where played by 30 year olds maybe that has desensitized me and caused me to not think twice when I’m told a 30 year old is playing 24. I am however thankful Hammer played Oliver because I think replacing him or any of the main cast of that movie could potentially ruin it.

That’s what you took from the father’s monologue? That his “summer crush” was as good as it would get? I didn’t hear that at all. I heard him say that while he may be feeling like crap right now longing for that “summer crush” and knowing you may never see him again do dull that pain because you’ll lose so much more than you realize. And whole hell of a lot more that I can do justice summarizing so I’m not gonna try. While yes he did kinda say he settled for his Elio’s mom, and yeah that is kind cringe to hear a parent say about the other. I was easily able to forgive/ignore that line due to the rest of what he said. For me as someone who feared losing the love of my family especially my father when they learned I was gay that I lived a very sad lonely lie all throughout my teens and early 20s that scene moved me and made wish he was my father. It made me angry that I didn’t have that but also thankful that there are kids today who do. I loved that scene.

I will say though if I give it a lot of thought Oliver attended the school Elio’s father taught at and assuming during the school year Elio’s family live near the school and his father isn’t commuting from Italy every day wouldn’t Oliver and Elio live in the same local area so why couldn’t they have continued their relationship once Elio returned to the states in the fall. However writing this it occurred to me that in the Film Oliver may have just finished his final year of school or was going into it.
The father's monologue at the end of the film is stunningly beautiful. Warm, loving and revealing. Seems to me, the father actually confesses to Elio that he himself is gay. I've watched the film 6 times and I come away with that reading of it each time.

With regard to your second paragraph, Oliver is from America. Elio and his family live in Italy. Oliver is only in Italy for the summer and goes back to America at the end of the film.

I think they should just change the context of the story. Here's it is. Timothee realizes that he can't let his love of life go, he moves to US to break his wedding. He leaves Italy and goes to America searching for Armie but he's already married. Meanwhile he gets a job at a restaurant to support himself. Famous Hollywood filmmaker Scorsese visits the place and is enchanted by Timothee star looks, offers him a role in his movie and he auditions and becomes a big movie star. One days he wins Oscars for best actor, in his speech he thanks the man who inspired his life, Oliver. Oliver watches the speech live on television and becomes emotional. His wife has already left him due to his cannibal accusations. He runs to NY to meet Timothee( elio) ,both kiss each other and make a passionate night out. In the morning, Elio and Oliver found dead and news spread across America that Hollywood star Elio had died under unfortunate circumstances with his secret gay lover and cannibal role is evened out. In the end, both are buried beside each other Hollywood lawns cemetery.
There is a sequel to the book called Find me.

Unpopular opinion: you can use Deepseek, Chatgpt, etc to write a new book after CMBYN ends. You can pump out 200 pages eventually and tailor the storyline to your desires.
“Find Me” had a great ending! If you only care about the Oliver + Elio storyline, just read the last two parts of the book. It’s great.

I agree! Aciman should have just made it a short companion novella and it probably would have been received a lot better.
