I can't wait for series 2 but whilst series one guys are all we have to gossip about I find it interesting that we have reached the time period we're a lot of the guys are drifting away from each other or even falling out.
Ben who seemed to be good mates with Scottish Dan has unfollowed Dan and quite a few other people including Matty. He still follows his good mate Gareth though. Summer last year Dan and Ben were mates going to festivals together.
I would love to know if there's any juicy gossip behind that!!
Infact Ben still follows Ollie but not Dan. Did he take sides when they split?

Quite a few of the guys no longer follow Dan and Mikey in an Instagram q+a a while back talked very negatives about Dan saying he doesn't really care about him or what he thinks!
Mikey was at the Attitude awards this week but Dan wasn't but was last year.

I wonder what more has gone on beyond the inevitable drift between friends over time...

It takes time for people to see one another's true colours. A lot of the guys have broken contact with Dan as it's become apparent he only went on the show for clout, any fame he could garner and was desperate to forge a media/presenting career off the back of it (as is common with a fair number of people who go on reality TV). I see he's done a project with the BBC about gay guys on PrEP or something? Even his relationship with Ollie he forced in the end for the purpose of the reunion episode and brand deals on Instagram. Many people can clearly see this about Dan; he doesn't come across as likeable but instead very self-interested. Ollie on the other hand is just a genuine guy, no false air, what you see is what you get, and that's why he received such a positive reception. He's made it clear he doesn't harbour any ill will towards Dan and will always support him. Dan sadly wouldn't do the same for Ollie; and Ollie has said on podcasts that Dan is a little bitter towards him post-split for reasons he doesn't understand.

Ben is in a relationship now and has been for some time if you look at his Instagram. It seems like he's just quietly and happily getting on with his life. He had a genuine friendship with Gareth which started on the show and evidently the two of them have maintained this. He probably doesn't follow Matty anymore as the two of them did try dating for a while in the period after they got eliminated from the show but before it aired, however in the end nothing came of it. If his brief partnership with Matty didn't work out and he's in a relationship with a different guy, there's no reason for him to follow or stay in touch with Matty anymore. I imagine he no longer follows Dan as he can see through him. That and/or they've just drifted apart.

Mikey has become very arrogant (and arguably deluded) after appearing on the show. He refers to himself as an "influencer" and "reality tv star" in his social media bios when he's nothing of the sort. He's done a few podcast interviews, some football refereeing and sports co-hosting/presenting since, so I wonder if he's vying with Dan to get presenting gigs and/or chasing any opportunity he can to get himself on TV again and with that some low-level attention. I've also seen him in a TikTok live saying something along the lines of how he has no interest in Dan and was throwing shade at him, so there may have been more that happened there. From memory, I think there was a bit of Twitter beef where they were indirecting or slagging each other off or things were misconstrued quite a while back? Either way, they're similar in that they're desperate for any fame and followers they can get.

Series 2 is on the way. It was filmed back in September this year, again in Puglia, Italy. No broadcast date has been confirmed by the BBC yet but best guess is that it'll follow the pattern of the first IKAB and IKAG series and hit screens in May time next year, with information about the contestants being released in the weeks prior to it airing. A guy I matched with on Tinder a while back funnily enough now works for Twofour (the production company behind the show based in Devon) and was involved in the production and casting of the new series, shortlisting applicants and conducting Zoom auditions etc. He was posting on Instagram in Italy back in early September. I asked if he could reveal anything but he said that while a lot of information is embargoed and under wraps, with NDAs signed and so on, there are a few bisexual guys in the new series (as there were girls in IKAG), so that'll definitely make things more interesting.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. The guys on this show do need a reality check though, they’re no more celebs than the contestants who went on Blind Date back in the day. Their 15 mins are already over and by the time season 2 comes around they will be ancient history

I agree completely. Some of them like Ben, Gareth and Bobski appeared on the show and just moved on with their lives yet those like Dan, Mikey and Ross live and breathe the experience and are desperate to rinse it for everything they can. Even now they’re still posting and talking about it online, gasconading and pontificating as though they’re the revered guru or encyclopaedia of reality TV because they appeared on a single show for a few weeks. Look at someone like Ross’s Instagram — it’s pitiful. Him and the aforementioned others behave on social media as though they genuinely believe they’re influencers (literally because they bagged a blue tick by their names as a byproduct of their appearance), desperately craving attention and validation from strangers. It’s bizarre. When Series 2 of IKAB airs (presumably next spring) they will 100% be talking about it non-stop again and harassing/trying to contact the new cast members in a bid to parasitically leech off their newfound attention too.

It’s like the two guys that formed a relationship on the rebooted series of Big Brother last year, they’re STILL posting all over multiple social media platforms about the experience and like they know everything about the show. Their existence almost entirely revolves around this one aspect of their lives and their online posts suggest they deludedly think they’re utterly adored national treasures/public property with legions of fans. Mad.

I feel sorry for people that apply to go on these shows for all the wrong reasons (i.e. desperately seeking fame) such as Dan, Mikey, Ross and so on. They’re so empty and impressionable. They fail to realise that certain individuals who get launched to Z-list level fame or bag a media career off the back their appearance on one reality TV show/competition e.g. Alison Hammond, Jade Goody, Nikki Grahame, Katie Hopkins etc are rare exceptions and not the rule, and that such individuals are often targeted by calculated senior producers and channel controllers because they’re so exploitable.

Thanks for your detailed reply. All good and fair points but from what I can make out from the Liverpool gay scene and Mikeys socials etc he at least at the moment seems to be making a decent amount of money from his new career.
