Ben is not a likeable character. I especially didn’t like how he was talking to everyone BUT Vitor about how he felt about Vitor. I also think I’m one of the few (judging by this thread) that likes Ross. I think the narrative over Ross being miffed over being rejected by Ben is a stretch. It was a one and done imo.

Hopefully Ben gets the boot during the vote. Or honestly one of the established couples so we can get a lot of new faces in the house. Love Island always gets super boring once they have all paired off for the rest of the season so fingers crossed that IKAB can do something to prevent this.

Also Danni getting her life when the boys kiss is absolutely adorable.

The preview did show that one of the established couples will be booted off, but I have a feeling Matty and Jake W were the last new boys and that the show will end with the "commitment ceremony" in front of friends and family in episode 8. Small budget. If it does well maybe they can make season 2 more expansive.

None of these guys are representative of the sort of men I'm attracted to and the ones I know in real life.

I suppose reality TV attracts a certain type of person but it's always embarrassing to see certain types "representing" gay people.

I agree that there is a rise in distinctly average people thinking they're something special - they are all over social media. I don't understand it but I can only assume they amass a bit of a following and it goes to their heads.

I know the scouse guy had a tiktok presence during the pandemic. I think he's the most normal of a lot of them in there but the accent for me is an instant turn off.

A simplistic explanation would be how easy it is for gay men to get an instant hook up thanks to Grindr. A lot of average-looking men can get regular sex if men with zero standards give them attention. Same with the Twitter gays, they can feel popular and confident because a dozen men across the globe like their tweets. It doesn’t really prepare them for the harsh realities of real life and obviously the show isn’t real either, they’re forced to live together and make the most of what’s available but outside of the show half of them won’t get a second glance from anyone in the street.

I totally agree with you. The concept of "gay man" is so different in real life and in reality shows these days. None of those queens are my type. They should do "mature gay men" version of it as well. However I know there are many guys who will find them attractive, so I'm not criticizing those of course.

Yeah, things have definitely regressed.

I used to like Playing It Straight. I can't imagine any of this lot getting very far on that show haha.

Rather than the show getting praise for same-sex dating, it’s drawing attention on the fact they’re all young men and fairly slender. It’s not particularly fair when it’s the first of its kind and it’s been made for the 16-35 year audiences of BBC Three. Love Island and other shows of the sort don’t show overweight or mature adults but seem to get away with it.

Maybe if it was Channel 4 they’d have a variety of ages, disabilities and ethnicities but Channel 4 already has half a dozen dating shows at the moment.

Just to add that I don’t find any of them attractive or the sort of guy I’d want to date (other than Ollie who I already knew), so I do get what you’re saying. I tried to imagine how I’d cope if I was in the show and I would have left the moment they said they were having a pride party in their campest outfits
